The trails are in good condition, thanks to the groomers who’ve been hard at work day and night. Snow has been falling lightly and is expected to continue overnight. Enjoy the ride and stay safe!
Check out this live feed to see trail #7, just north of Gaylord.
A few things to remember about groomers:
– Groomers are out there to help you have a better riding experience and always have the right of way. – Please move off the trail when groomers are coming and allow them to safely pass. – If you approach a groomer from behind, kindly wait for the operator to signal you to pass. – Grooming can take place at any time during the day or night. – Have fun and stay safe!

Its a nice cold and sunny 11 degrees on wednesday morning in downtown Frederic. The good thing about the cold is its letting us keep the whole 8 inches of lake effect that we had last week. There are riders out there and you have to enjoy what we do have.. I dont know when the next snow is going to hit us but lets hope for MLK weekend. I decided to leave sunday nite and went up to my favorite spot in Grand Marais. I like to stay at Rick and Marys place right downtown. The Superior Hotel. I started out monday morning from there and rode out to the Bear Trap in Munising and had lunch and ran into my old friend Don Reed who was there for lunch but was out grooming from Seney to the Bear trap. It was good to catch up with him. Got in 80 miles on Monday. Ran into several Sledheads at Lake Superior brewing company both monday and tuesday nights. Tuesdays ride was 100 miles and I looped out to Pine Stump and down towards Newberry and back up to Grand Marais. Overall I would rate the trails at a 9. It really is winter up there and I am so glad I went up there. Alot of sleds out riding and I expect it will get busier there before the weekend. Also met up with Perry from the food truck that he has open on trail 888 about 8 miles outside of Grand Marais. He is open wed thru sunday out there. Stop in for hot dogs or brats or a warm up drink. Many of you have seen his videos on the FB page Riding the Crazy 8s under PM Bennet. Stop in and tell him I sent you. Thats about it for today and lets see what this weekend brings. Thanks for checking in. Pete

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Accumulating lake effect snow continues across northern Michigan today into Sunday. Gusty winds will lead to blowing and drifting snow, leading to quick drops in visibility – especially across open areas. Wind chills look to stay below zero today into tonight. Cold temperatures may also lead to freezing of wet roads this morning, contributing to potentially hazardous travel conditions for the first half of the weekend. #miweather #gaylord#cadillac#benzie#traversecity#petoskeyAccumulating lake effect snow continues across northern Michigan today into Sunday. FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> Friday riders were out but certainly no big crowds, light sled traffic. I see 6 sleds over at the swamp right now and am sure they are there for the breakfast buffet. My gut feeling is its gonna be a slow saturday but conditions are still better than we have seen in years. Had dinner at the Frederic Inn last night and 3 of us had the prime rib and it was great as usual. Left overs for lunch today. Pics below are all from yesterday and last night. Thanks for checking in. Pete #gaylord#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less
