HARBOR SPRINGS AREA UPDATE via Harbor Springs Snowmobile Club – 12/07
We got roughly 3” of snow yesterday with a few more coming today. We started panning on Thursday & depending on the night time temperatures will resume tonight or tomorrow night.
We are off to a great start for the season but please remember that it’s early season conditions, we don’t have enough snow to fill in all the ruts, cover all the rocks, and the water holes are still open and deep. Ride safe out there!
⚠️ Loggers have plowed trail 705, Moose Jaw Road, and part of 704, Teal road, so avoid these areas (See map below in red). If you’re traveling to Moose Jaw Junction you’ll want to take trail 71 straight to 704, & turn onto 721.
WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Dangerous wind chills will be widespread today, especially this morning. Wind chills in the 20s below zero; some areas could feel as cold as -30F. This will be dangerous, as frostbite can develop in as little as 30 minutes on exposed skin. Limit time outdoors and dress in layers. Keep a winter weather survival kit in your vehicle in case you get stranded. Gusty northwest winds plus continued powdery lake effect snow will lead to significant reductions in visibility with whiteouts at times through this afternoon, especially in open areas where snow can easily blow around. Dangerous travel conditions are expected, and wind chills well below zero will be even more problematic if you end up stranded on the road. #miweather #gaylord#cadillac#benzie#traversecity#petoskeyDangerous wind chills will be widespread today, especially this morning.
