FREDERIC / GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic – 12/06
Its been a quiet and calm friday morning in snowy downtown Fredericanville. No new snow and no plowing for me overnight. Just a little touch up here and there. A few sleds in so far this morning and I expect there will be a good amount in this morning. Took my first drive thru the motel parking lots in Grayling and not to busy with a total of 13 trailers between Days Inn and Ramada. I cant say I am thrilled with the weather reports for the next couple days but we are surely off to a agreat start so far. Parking is an issue, I am full down at storage and people are parking in my back lot. If you want to park daily back there come inside and see me. Pic below is from this mornings first group of sleds. I also forgot to mention yesterdfay that on my return trip from the bridge the other night and south of Waters the Gaylord Groomer was deep off the trail in the ditch. I am sure that was a big project to get that out. Thanks for checking in and Please ride Safely. Pete
FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> Sunday morning same old report. Just a few flakes fell yesterday and light snow in the air this morning. Same trailer count at the 2 hotels in Grayling. Zero at the Days Inn and 3 at the Ramada. There were a fair amount of sleds into Frederic yesterday and the pic below was at the Swamp. Most riders had the same thoughts that it was thinner as you came into Frederic and better to the west and north. Scattered snow thruout the week coming in the predictions so lets see what happens this coming week and maybe we will get a good MLK weekend... #gaylord#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less

WEATHER UPDATE via Meteorologist Brad Sugden >> SNOW TIME! Posted (Jan 11 2pm). A clipper system comes in Sunday with impacts lasting into Monday. This is SNOW POTENTIAL Sunday AND Monday. Don't come at me 9am Sunday morning and say "where's my snow." lol. As you can see the effects of this will vary GREATLY depending on where you are in the state. We go from up to 1" for most areas in the light blue to about 1-3" at best for most of the Lower Peninsula. The west side gets more because of a quick shot of lake effect with gusty winds and cold temperatures. The U.P. is the bread winner here with the center of the low pressure hanging out over Lake Superior for a bout 24hrs. That will cause more lift which we need for snow to develop along with more lake effect due to strong winds and VERY cold air. It'll be a fluffy snow that piles up rather quick. Winds will be very strong as times with a lot of cold air pouring in by Monday morning. Expect some areas in West Michigan to have wind chills as cold as -5 with the Western U.P. having wind chills as cold as -20. BRR! TIMING is posted on my page a post or two down. Please go there and scroll down. #miweather #keweenaw#westernup#marquette#munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea#gaylord#cadillac#benzie#traversecity#petoskeySNOW TIME! Posted (Jan 11 2pm).

JORDAN VALLEY AREA UPDATE via Jordan Valley Trails Council >> Some pictures from grooming this week Overall trails are in fair shape, covered but thin. Our guys did some measurements and there is 1-4” on entire trail system. 131 is thin in spots the entire way. #trail4 toward EJ is the thinnest section of trail we have closer to town, but it’s rideable. Corners are bare in the bottom, random super thin patch in the heavy canopy areas. Much of the roughness is ultimately the underlying ground and frozen ground beneath the snow. Logging is still taking place in the North 10, be cautious as we’ve had reports of limbs and brush in the trails. Trail 766 is CLOSED but we are still working with the DNR and ACRC on an acceptable resolution to get it opened back up, soon ultimately we need more snow in there regardless. Our volunteers have been out doing what they can with current conditions. Mid week grooming with continue to be groomed as snow and conditions warrant, every other day roughly and we’ll be out on the weekends. It’s forecasted for 6-10” early next week which will whiten things up but not add much to the trail. The new snow will work well as we don’t have much dirt and sand mixed into what’s on the trail thankfully. Stay tuned for further updates from our groomers through the week. Shout out to all our volunteers for devotion grooming and hitting the trails on sleds to check current conditions as well as our friends down at Kalkaska County Sand and Snow - KCSAS as there are many phone calls with them on conditions. Be sure to check out our snowmobile clubs and go support them. Antrim County Snowmobile Club has a sled raffle going on as well as their clubhouse is open on Saturdays. East Jordan Trailblazers have their Sunday Breakfast all season long as well as a club raffle. They are the core of our organization and we can’t thank them enough! #jordanvalley#gaylord#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less
