BENZIE / MANISTEE UPDATE via Benzie Manistee Snowbirds – 12/05
Good new everyone, we have enough snow now and will be sending out our groomers tomorrow to start panning and grooming our trail system. Following is important information about our trail system:
• There is active logging activity impacting trail 3 north of US31 just past Maple City Hwy. The groomed trail has been graded down to dirt and there are logging trucks using this section of the trail. I would recommend that you do not use this section of trail at this time. According to the DNR, most of this activity should be completed in about a week.
• The private property gate in Bear Lake on Chief road will remain closed until December 16. This is at the request of property owners. This is the trail segment leading into the Bear Lake Saddle Up gas station.
WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> A major winter storm will continue to impact northern Michigan, bringing dangerous travel conditions to much of the area. Heavy snow and strong winds gusting to 45-55+ mph are expected to create localized blizzard conditions across open areas at times from mid-morning into early afternoon. Drifting snow may make travel especially difficult on secondary roadways. Power outages will also be possible, especially across areas that experienced icing on Sunday. Be sure to use extreme caution if having to travel across northern Michigan today! #miweather #gaylord#cadillac#benzie#traversecity#petoskeyA major winter storm will continue to impact northern Michigan, bringing dangerous travel conditions to much of the area.
