SAULT STE. MARIE UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association – 01/21
Well, another weekend of no significant snowfall here in our immediate area. While we wish we could be out grooming, it was nice to be able to take a ride with some fellow volunteers and club members down to Drummond Island yesterday. We left from Kinross where there is more snow for sure than in the Soo, and found more snow the further south we went. No doubt, many areas could use some fresh stuff, but you don’t have to go far out of the Soo to find good trails.
Huge shout out to Les Cheneaux Snowmobile Club & Grooming Report and Drummond Island Snow & Groomer Report!!! 491 and 47 all the way down were freshly groomed, and they’ve done a great job grooming the ditches where the trail is along the county roads. The few road sections have hard pack snow, no issues with overheating and I don’t run scratchers. We caught a fresh groom right of the Drummond Island ferry when we arrived, and stopped to chat with the operator for a few. All of the trails over there are frozen and freshly groomed.
We saw only 3 sled groups the entire 175 mile day! I really love the far eastern UP trails and the the clubs that make this such a great place to ride! If you have plans to come here, please know that you can still have a great trip! You might have to get creative and we are happy to help if you need ideas on where to trailer to or ride out of.
Thank you again to our neighboring clubs! Think snow! ❄️❄️❄️
