Straits Area Trail Report – 03/22

Wednesday March 22

This will be our last report for the season. The only remaining trail base we have is deep in the woods where you could still find some flat hard conditions to play. Open areas are looking like spring although today we had a coating of snow and looks white for the moment.

There is a chance for some snow this weekend and if that happens a last minute ride could as well, and there is no major warm ups predicted through the weekend as of now. Thanks to everyone that came up and spemt time in our area.

We had a challenging weather season in our southern areas but overall went well with no major issues.

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan --> Historic late season snow storm ends today. Snow continues this morning, heaviest across the north central highlands. Snow will then quickly diminish this afternoon and will end most areas by late afternoon. Where the heaviest snow has fallen, travel will be very difficult this morning. Also, where snow has collected on trees, gusty winds this morning may still break tree limbs and cause additional power outages. With warmer weather ahead, melting snow will lead to water level rises on rivers and streams, creating the potential of more flooding... #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsareaHistoric late season snow storm ends today. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan --> The warm and dry pattern will end on Saturday as the next system moves in bringing rain on Saturday and rain/snow on Sunday. The next days will melt more snow, continuing substantial water level rises on rivers, streams, and other low-lying areas.
