Munising Area Trail Report – 12/20
MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Alger County SORVA – We have been getting a little snow, inch or two each day. Not enough to get out and groom though. All trails North of Buckhorn Road have been prepped and packed in and we are doing occasional trail dressing around town. We will probably hit the trails again over the next few days just to keep them defined and pack a base. We really need a substantial snow fall to finish packing in the wet areas and start grooming – let’s hope for the best…..

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Back to back events are expected this week. Expect strong winds this afternoon and tonight, then strong winds, falling temperatures, and snowfall on Thursday and Thursday night. The strong winds for both events night may result in power outages and lakeshore flooding/erosion and/or weakening lake ice. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> A cold front will move across the U.P this evening. Light snow will accompany the front but generally less than an inch is expected. Behind the front temperatures will fall into the single digits above and below zero. This combined with gusty winds will bring wind chills down into the teens and twenties below zero. A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect for Gogebic and Iron counties tonight through Saturday morning. Lake effect snow will develop behind the front in the northwest wind snowbelts with several inches expected.
