Sault Ste. Marie Trail Report – 02/17

Trails are all in good to excellent shape, but the longer the time after a groom the the rougher they get. Busy weekend lots ot events going on and lots of sled traffic. Groomers are out smoothing out the trails daily. Hopefully if you found a not so smooth section you found many more that were freshly groomed. Groomers run 24/7 on different sections. Trails are generally groomed once a day on weekends and everyother day during the week depending on traffic, temps, and breakdowns All wet areas are frozen solid. There is over a foot of base out in Raco, the most snow we have had in years. Bay Mills groomer is down so we groomed their 18 miles yesterday for them.

Join us on Facebook also.

City curfew is from 1am – 6 am. Remember most City streets are open to traffic, 20 mph, stop at all intersections, and ride the right hand side of street not on side walks. Watch for closed streets that are posted, mainly around the hospital, university, and state trunk lines.

Sault Ste. Marie to Kinross, Trail #49 –

Kinross loop and south to Pickford, parts of Trail #49, #494, #472

Base 4 – 8 inches – Trail is in Good to Excellent Condition. Less snow to the South East compared to Raco but still more then we have had in many years.

Kinross to Raco/Rudyard, Trail # #480 & #472

Base 4-9 inches – Trail is in Good to Excellent Condition. All wet areas frozen.

The Downtown Trail has not been groomed, but it is marked. The city hopes to set up the barrels on the trail this week if they don’t have to spend all week moving snow. It has been snowing so much they have been too busy moving snow.

Gaylord Area Trail Report – Ray’s Retreat Country Inn – 02/17

There’s nothing better than a dining room/motel full of happy people. We got many compliments for our breakfast but everyone was telling about their great rides yesterday.

Gaylord Area – February 13

A beautiful day. Mild temps and off/on sunshine. Becky and Dave from Ohio enjoyed this ride with us.

Saturday morning’s group was saying trail 7 out front here was rough when they all returned Friday night. We saw the groomer go by three times yesterday, and riders reported seeing groomers thru out their rides. The riders that went Lewistown and Lovells said it was a very good ride. Many went north and rode the Indian Rivers/Chandler Hills making them a good day on the trail.

This was another weekend with many riders. It’s still a busy time, we are full again tonight.
