Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – 12/02

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE – via Keweenaw Trail Reports

Groomers were out today, however I believe they will not head back out until there is further snowfall. As you head north the snowfall definitely thins out A LOT. We made it into Copper Harbor and enjoyed a great lunch at The Mariner North and fueled up at Copper Harbor Fuel Stop – however, it should be noted that unless you are a diehard rider you might choose to wait until there is significant further snowfall as there were very thin areas and bare spots on Brockway.

It should should also be noted that most of trail 134 is plowed down to dirt in spots or at best VERY thin snow cover as the loggers still appear to be actively logging that area – no one should attempt to take that trail until further notice.

All in all it is VERY early season conditions so continue to do the SN❄️W dances as for as many good parts of trail that you see in this photo there are also wet areas and thin snow cover areas.

Huge thank you to the groomers for heading out today and opening gates and removing fallen trees etc while they were out!

If you choose to ride before significant more snowfall, please ride with extreme caution as there are wet areas, bare spots, exposed rocks and could be fallen trees.

Munising Area Trail Report – 12/02

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Snowshoe Inn Munising, MI

This was the worst storm in my life. 12 hr span. Plus 20 inches without drifting. Got stuck in 4 wheel drive on main Rd. Rode Snowmobile to pick up my truck this morning then to work 4AM. Apocalyptic storm. Early December riding is here to stay. Welcome back Christmas week and ITS OPEN.

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Buckhorn Resort

Wow! Those were some big storms! We got a double-whammy of a wet & heavy snow that knocked out trees and power all over and before that could be dealt with, at least 2 feet fell Saturday night into Sunday. We are now back to running (mostly 🤪) normally.
