Greetings Sledders,

Just a quick update. We got around 4" of Lake Effect last night here in town with totals closer to 6" just to the west and the snow totals fizzled as you go to the east.

We are panning everything except the Lovells trail due to the aforementioned fizzling.

You can get an early season ride that I would have to call poor to fair but by the looks of the weather forecast you may want to do it soon as we are looking at a warm up this weekend and on into next week. It’s anybody’s guess how long things will hold up.

Unfortunately that same forecast doesn’t show any new snow in our immediate future.

We received over a foot of snow so far this week and our temp this morning was 12 degrees.
Trails are being groomed daily in most of the Lake Gogebic Area. Trails are all reporting in good condition.

Trail 1S: Gogebic Area Grooming and their volunteers were out for 2 days clearing Trail 1 on the West Shore. There is enough snow to make snow bridges to get across the wet and washed out areas and hoping to have this trail open by Christmas!

Trails 13 North and South: The drag went up 13 North and Marenisco’s Groomer went South on 13 breaking trails once more. Trail 100 and 102 also got hit.

Trail 8W: between Bergland and Wakefield – still some wet spots. Use caution.

Trail 8W: is open and snow cover is good.

Trail 102: there is a new reroute about 4 miles before trail 11. The trail is marked well and the reroute was a very nice turn out. (Temporary Re-Route)

Past the Root Cellar, there is more logging. You will have to travel on East Shore Rd you will have to travel 2 miles further then before to get back onto trail 13. A new reroute will take place. Please follow the signs marked 13. (Permanent Re-Route for the 2019-2020 Season).

Trail 100: Logging is happening between Stagecouch Rd and the Slate River (very end of Lake Gogebic) Marshall Creek Bridge has been fixed so you can get to Marenisco from trail 100. (Permanent for 2019-2020 season)

Trail 1 from Trail 100 to Trail 8: Closed until further notice as logging is taking place until the end of December. You still can access the Gogebic Lodge and we plan to maintain it up to the Lodge, so we can get up and run.

**Please stay on the trails. Respect private property. Do not drink and drive. Above all else, drive safely. The signs on the trails are there for rider’s safety so please DO NOT remove or destroy them.

Snowfall:
Lake Gogebic Area has received a total of 84.5” of snow for the season and Keweenaw County has received 114.2″ of snow for the season. Riders are all reporting good to great riding conditions!
