WATERSMEET / WESTERN U.P. UPDATE via U.P. Thunder Riders Snowmobile Club​ – 1/18

Thunder Riders are grooming daily and the trails are in excellent shape! 6+" of new snow and more expected overnight. If the snow falls after the groomers are done, the trails will be rough throughout the next day because of the new snow. The groomers head out most of the time after 4pm

Trail #3 from the Wisconsin border to Watersmeet very good condition, Watersmeet to Paulding very good condition. We have 2 logging project on this trail one north of Forest Rd 5250 (trail 150) and the other is north of Bond Falls Rd both are very passable. Please use caution in these areas and respect the loggers.

Trail #2 west of Watersmeet to Trail #1 south, very good condition

Trail #2 east of Watersmeet to Trail #107, very good condition

Trail #13 south to Cisco Chain, very good condition

Hello- Rode today around Caberfae, Coyote, LPL and Boon. Most conditions were pretty good overall, but some thin spots on Trail 6 south and west of Caberfae. Was told conditions were also mostly good up around Mesick as well. Chance of a few inches coming this week and possible storm for the weekend? Should be busy upcoming weekend, with MLK long weekend for many and also hosting our Coyote Cup youth race. We could use another 4-6″ to really get things in good shape and have more for groomers to work with. At this point, the groomers have not gone out, but we’re getting close. Think SNOW! Pete

33 Rd Staging Area–S of M-55–approx.. 3 miles west of Cadillac on M-55 (watch for signs)

Caberfae Staging Area–approx.. 12 miles west of Cadillac on M-55 (watch for signs)

Boon Staging Area–park in plowed area south of Boon Grocery

Note: The porta-a-johns were removed from our staging areas today as our contracts on them expired 3-15-13.
