Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – 03/14

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports – 3/14

It’s the start to a great day of riding in Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula…. the flurries have continued, Groomer Operators were out last night and the new force of Operators are out now!

Getting through Houghton/Hancock is a bit better than dry pavement as it was prior to the fresh snowfall Thursday night, but is still very thin. Reports of riders doing it and saying it was “ok” and others that choose to stage north of there at The Trailside Lodge in Calumet right on Trail 17 or Vansville Bar in Phoenix right on Trail 3 where it intersects with Trail 124. I personally have been staging out of Vansville due to access to fuel right there and we primarily ride north of there.

You can follow grooming updates here on the page or by getting the Groomer Tracker App to see exactly what has been groomed and when!

As always I will provide my own comments on riding conditions and photos, along with other riders so that you get the most well rounded, accurate information possible!

The season is definitely not over UP here in the Keweenaw! More snow in the forecast this week also!

Please let me know if you have any questions regarding lodging, routes to ride, etc I’m more than happy to help you have the best experience when riding the area!

Munising Area Trail Report – 03/14

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails – 3/14

We groomed last night with good results and will continue to do so as temps and weather permit. Trail is good. Road crossings are bare. Approaches are thin. We are narrowing our trail as false edges are soft ant we don’t want to lose the groomer off the edge. They will hold sleds no problem, but won’t take 9 tons of groomer. Looks like we will have a little more time to ride as long as you ride right and ride safe!

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Alger County SORVA – 3/14

TRAIL REPORT – Saturday, 03/14/2020
GROOMING RESUMED WITH GREAT RESULTS!
Overall trail conditions are very good to good with a soft snow covering and good base. Plenty of snow with great riding conditions. Near the towns we have bare roads and dirty/icy snow on trails running along the roadways. Trail 419 between Munising and Wetmore has the big hill on the Munising side icy at the top with moguls on the inside corners. Enjoy the Trails and Ride Safe!
