Good evening!
It’s been a very snowy and blustery day around here! They even cancelled school tomorrow which is pretty rare for our area.
Hard to say how much snow we have received because it is blowing and drifting so much.
Groomer Mike P hit trail 49 from the city to Devils Hill, skipping the 2 sections that we have been warning about for weeks. The groomer could break through here so we are giving it the weekend to freeze up more. These areas will be rough.
Mike saw lots of drifting in the open areas so use caution if you ride this trail. It is still listed as closed so it is ride at your own risk and expect some rough sections, but we are doing what we can to get it fully opened soon!
Lots of people are rolling into town for the I-500. A very exciting time to be in the Soo!

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Heavy snow and bitter cold wind chills are expected to begin tonight and continue through Monday. New snowfall of 4-8” with locally higher amounts are possible by Monday night/Tuesday morning. Wind gusts of 30-45+ mph are expected Monday morning and afternoon. Wind chills will drop well below zero through Tuesday as well. Jay and I hit the city trails last night and they are in good shape. Some choppy spots due to heavier traffic earlier, but we smoothed them out as best we could and saw very little traffic on our run.
Snow was falling the whole run and should be a beautiful ride in the morning.
