Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – Evert’s Snowmobile Rentals – 01/06

The snowmobile trails from TwinLakes to CopperHarbor are open, and groomers are out working on them. Trails are reported to be in good to very good condition except for Trails 122, 133 and the High Rock trail which are in poor condition with wet areas and low snow. Trail usage one these trails should be done with care until we have better snow cover

Remember to watch out for the groomers when you’re out on the trails…….they have the right of way!!
There is logging on a short portion of Trail 133 between Gay and Lac La Belle.

The Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau asks that you stay on the trails, STAY OFF THE ICE, respect private property, do not drink and drive, and above all else, please, drive safely. The signs on the snowmobile trails are there for the riders’ safety. Please, DO NOT remove or destroy these signs.

Newberry Trail Report – Visit Newberry – 01/06

TASA Trail Report
January 6, 2011 7:00 A.M.

Trail in town is in poor condition.

Trail 9 north to Pine Stump has a 1 – 4 inch base and is in poor to fair condition

Trail 45 has a 1 – 3 inch base and is in poor condition. The trail is starting to freeze with Highs in the 20s and Lows in the teens, but there is not enough snow to groom.

The DNRE has opened the trail from the 500 to the falls but has not been groomed due to lack of snowfall. In the open areas the snow base is thin, but in the wooded areas of the trail we still have a fair base.

The Newberry trail 9 to Rexton is in poor condition with a 1 – 3 inch base, please watch for the water hole north of Borgstrom road in Hemlock Ridge. From Rexton south to the wooden bridge 473 to Epoufette is rough from logging and lack of snow. The deer are out and moving so please watch for them. Please be careful on the trails and watch for icy spots. We are expecting 8 inches or more starting Thursday afternoon and going into Friday night, hopefully this does happen and we will be back out on the trails as soon as there is enough snow. Only about 1 inch of snow fell overnight, still expecting the storm starting this afternoon and into Friday and Saturday morning. Expecting around 1 -3 inches today.
