Cadillac Area Trail Report – Cadillac Trails – 12/14

Snow Accumulation: 12 inches*

Trees and branches continue to fall and block the trail even after the groomers have gone through so be careful as you enjoy our wintery wonderland. Al Green, our trail coordinator reports we’ve gone through 2 full tanks of fuel in the 8120’s chain saw alone in the two days we’ve been grooming. It would seem the groomers been doing more cutting than grooming. He also reports the 8120 has a flat front tire this morning but should be repaired soon so it can head towards McGuires. That area hasn’t seen a groomer yet. He also indicated the Tucker and 6430 are both going from Boon south to Trail 35 this morning to work on more leaning trees taking 2 chain saws with them. The radio on the 7920 isn’t working so we aren’t certain of it’s location.

Hi All, we have had several riders this last weekend and week and are reporting some areas nice and some are thin. 12-13-10 I talked to the grooming Coordinators for Irons and Baldwin and the operators are out grooming 12-13-10 and 12-14-10. Wellston and Benzie/Manistee also have groomed 12-13-10 and 12-14-10. Groomer operators are saying curvy areas do have snirt and straight areas are fairly nice for early season riding, but the ground still isn’t frozen, so conditions can change fast. Forecast is for more snow and cold, with a Clipper system on 12-17-10, so this week and weekend should be nice. (Notice: I said should be.)

Our On site Snowmobile rentals are ready to go for the season on December 1st, weather permitting. Plus we do have gift certificates available for that hard to buy for person. Get them an ATV, Snowmobile Rental or Lake Front room Gift Certificate. They will love it.

We are members of the Cycle Conservation Club of Michigan (Motorcycle and ORV Club), Baldwin Trailriders Snowmobile Club, Irons Area Tourist Association (ATV and Snowmobile Club), Wellston Area Recreation and Tourist Bureau (Snowmobile Club), Benzie-Manistee Snowbirds (Snowmobile Club), Lake County ORV Club and the Michigan Snowmobile Association. These are the local grooming clubs, in which we help support all of your favorite sports. When I go to an area, I always buy the new map for the season from the local snowmobile or ORV club. Trails may change and so do the maps. But I always spend my hard earned money, only with the businesses that support my sport. All those advertisers on the Snowmobile or ORV Club maps are the people, that help make those trails possible for all of us to ride. Just my two cents.
