Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – 02/23

Snowmobilers are still flocking to the Keweenaw. Trails range from poor in towns, near the lake and in low snow areas to good in the woods. Groomers are still working on all the trails. Cross country trails hold up much better and range from fair to excellent condition. It’s still winter on the Keweenaw – come on u…p and get that last fix before spring springs.

The snowmobile trails from TwinLakes to CopperHarbor are open, and groomers are out working on them. Trails are reported to range from poor condtion in towns, near the lake and in low snow areas to good condition in the woods. Please watch for icy trail corners.

Remember to watch out for the groomers when you’re out on the trails…….they have the right of way!!
There is logging on a short portion of Trail 133 between Gay and Lac La Belle.

*During the CopperDog 150 sled dog race on March 4 – 6 the Department of Natural Resources and Environment recommends that snowmobilers take advantage of alternate routes which are available to reach all destinations safely and with minimal delays. Snowmobilers will be discouraged from using active race trail segments while that particular segment of the race is in progress.*

The Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau asks that you stay on the trails, STAY OFF THE ICE, respect private property, do not drink and drive, and above all else, please, drive safely. The signs on the snowmobile trails are there for the riders’ safety. Please, DO NOT remove or destroy these signs.
