Cadillac Area Trail Report – Cadillac Trails – 01/18

FROM THE CADILLAC WINTER PROMOTIONS
Monday–January 18, 2010

This message from our Trail Coordinator: Due to sun and warm afternoon temps Friday through Sunday, no evening grooming was done. However, all 3 groomers went out Sunday and Monday mornings to try to smooth out the bumps from all of the holiday weekend traffic. The grooming went well both mornings, and most of the trail system held up well. There are some thin spots, and some snirt in places, but overall our system is still holding up. Monday night, we are going to try to smooth out what snow is left on the White Pine Trail from McGuires to Leroy with the hope that is will be smooth when receive some of the Lake Effect snow that is predicted for Monday night and Tuesday. Normal grooming operations are still planned for Tuesday through Thursday, but that may change if we do not receive any more snow. Will somebody please start (continue) doing their snow dances!!!! We need Snow!!!!

Snow gauge*: 5 3/4 inches

Grayling Trail Report – Fay’s Motel – 01/18

Greetings Idled Sledders,

Well now, things panned out as predicted. Lots of Sun, temps that would put one on the brink of considering Sun bathing during the late afternoon hours followed by an emergency phone call to the local Spam distributor for food. Things could be worse and we aren’t crying in our respective beers as we are acutely aware of the issues going on around the world with No. 1 our troops that are sacrificing time away from native grounds and family and the many sacrifices that they make including the ultimate one and of course the people of Haiti and other places that need desperate help. Things could be a lot more tuurible (Sir Charles) for us than they are.

THAT SAID LET’S GET ON WITH IT:

GROOMING:
Not a chance until we get some significant snows.

TRAILS:
The only riding that we can offer up right now is off trail. The snirtty stuff is now even snirttier but thinner than before. Pretty ugly overall.

WEATHER:
Nothing glowing in this category until maybe the first of next week. Temps are to stay around the freezing mark but the real kicker is more Sun mid-week.

I believe that it’s time for the infamous co-ed naked snow dance, ugly due to our age, which is why we perform this traditional affair behind the fence in the backyard.

If you do catch a ride,
Ride Often and Please Be Safe,
Keith, Sandy and The Girls

At Fay’s Motel enjoy direct access to the Grayling Area snowmobile trails.
