Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 12/25

Merry Christmas morning from our Sledheads family yours from Lake Margrethe. Its a little icy out there this morning. Suprisingly the trails have held up pretty good from the past few days of thirties and luckily its been cloudy with no sun. The biggest obstacle to overcome and see if we get any decent riding this coming week is if we get what is predicted for tonight which is a lot of rain that makes us a thick layer of ice. After tonight its supposed to cool back down and depending on what we get on the ground it should help out our base. There were some sleds out and about in Frederic yesterday but it was pretty quiet for the most part. I only stayed there till about 2. I am planning on staying home all day and going to enjoy some Christmas movies. The picture below reminded me of the old Swamp Bar in its hey days. I remember Cathys grandpa telling me about going to the swamp by horse years ago before paved roads and buying the piano player drinks all night long. I wonder if you could get a dui on a horse…….Also a shout out to Richard & Linda who are down in Texas right now and my friend Frank Addington down in San Antonio. — http://frederic-mi.com/merry-christmas-to-all-from-lake-margrethe/

Cadillac Area Trail Report – Visit Cadillac – 12/24

Christmas Eve, December 24, 2016

Trail Conditions: Fair

We picked up 3 to 4 inches of much needed snow last night. The warmer temperatures have been taking a toll on conditions. We took the groomers off the trail yesterday until there is more snow and cooler temperatures. Keep an eye on the Weather Channel and TV 9/10. Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Trail Conditions (12:30 p.m. update): Fair

Just received these photos from one of our groomers who was out for a Christmas Eve ride. The photo on the left was taken down by the Pine River Bridge this morning and will give you an idea of trail conditions in that area. Photo on the right was taken near 10 Mile Rd and Trail 35.

Trail Conditions: Fair to Good

The groomer out of Boon just sent me these photos along with a trail update. He was reporting from Trail 637 North of Lost Pine Lodge and indicated the open areas are excellent, tight areas are good and the base is good at 4 inches or so. We have a brief warm spell ahead that could impact trail conditions. We’ll have to wait to see how much.
