Ontonagon Trail Report – Scott’s Superior Inn – 12/22

We got 3-4″ of wet heavy snow yesterday, good for packing, the warmer temps are not helping but we are still grooming at night, traffic is very light right now. Calling for more snow this weekend, hopefully we get a good dumping. We still have lots of openings including lakefront chalets.

Remember !! if you got good snow by you we will have a lot more and a lot less traffic!

DECEMBER 17

WE got 12-18″ of snow on the ground, and we have started grooming, there are still a few wet spots to freeze up, but for the most part the trails are in pretty decent shape, Trail#12 going west out of Ontonagon has not been groomed completely cause a land owner still hasn’t opened his gate(right on edge of airport), suppose to do it this weekend, calling for heavy snow all weekend, and very cold temps. we have lots of openings in our resort including lakefront chalets that sleep up to 8, great time to come up.

We have a 30% discount on all lodging still till Dec. 23rd.

Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 12/22

Thursday morning in Frederic at 34 degrees. The weather forcast seems to be getting warmer temps yet. When I left Grayling this morning it was very sunny there, so far here in Frederic it has stayed cloudy.

We had a couple new inches of lake effect snow overnight which made it look nice. These mid 30s are gonna hurt if they keep it up. There is still a lot of snow in the woods so other 2 tracks should still be good and rideable. We need cold weather and a lot of snow chanting…….

I did talk to two other sets of riders yesterday that had rode up to the bridge and said it was decent. I still haven’t taken my sled outside yet. The snow pile in the alley behind the shop is huge and I cant believe no one has tried to go over it yet. There is actually two snow piles there and a big valley between the two so I wouldn’t want to try it without some help in case I was stuck between the two…..

That’s about it for now. Thanks for checking in. Pete — http://frederic-mi.com/thursday-morning/
