Lake Gogebic Trail Report – 12/26

The weather is not all what we’d hope it to be right now. Ice/rain last night, strong winds today – however the temp has dropped and it is beginning to snow. We’re expecting some heavy bursts of snow later today and off and on again snow all week. Temps are expected in the 20’s for highs and teens for lows. Next week shows some serious cold coming back again additional snowfall.
Groomers are not out at the present, but this can change quickly with any changes to the weather/temps. The trails are in poor condition with sticks and some rocks showing and lots of wet areas. If you find yourself riding through a wet area it’s best to not stop, just keep going to get out of it quickly. The smoothest trail we have at this time would be the railroad grade (Trail 8 east) between Bergland and Ewen. However, you will encounter some wet spots on your connection to this trail from Bergland.
Gogebic Area Grooming really needs your support at this time more than ever. You can be a part of our grooming efforts with a sponsorship of $25 for single, $30 for family and $75 for businesses. However we’d greatly appreciate a donation of any amount. These can be sent to “Gogebic Area Grooming” at “115 Hoop ‘N Holler Rd / Merriweather, MI 49947” or you can find sponsorship pads at most businesses around the lake with our map boxes, where you can also deposit donations. All map money is intended to benefit the grooming efforts in our area. If you mail your sponsorship or donation to the above address be sure to include contact info, as well.
