Paradise Area Trail Report – Paradise Area Night Riders – 01/16

January 16, 2017

20 degrees this morning and a clear sky. Gonna be another beautiful day as long as the temps don`t get too high.

While on the weather subject I want to say this……I am not a weatherman!! I`m a groomer!! I`ve got alot of calls the last couple days asking what the weather is gonna be like for next weekend…..I DON`T KNOW. I look at the same stuff ya`ll do on the computer. I did see though that its doesn`t look like we`ll get too high. ‘They’ are now saying highs in the mid 30`s and lows in the 20`s for us UP here. It also looks like we`ll miss the rain….GOOD!!! Now….on to the trails…..my area of expertise….

I`ve talked to all the groomers whom ran last night and they all said the same. The trails were pretty beat up cause of the heavy traffic but they all came out good when they got done. Thanks goes out to groomers Gerald, Loren and Don for letting me know so I can let ya`ll know. Groomer Mike is heading out to run trail #8 south of town today. He`ll get ahold of me tonight and let me know how the swamp looks.

As I said above, it doesn`t look like we will get as warm as ‘they’ were predicting earlier so we should be good to go for next weekend. We will keep a close eye on things so keep checking back every morning. I WILL keep you informed. Groomer Chris

Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – 01/16

This is the Keweenaw Snowmobile Trail System Report for Monday, January 16, 2017.

Snowmobile trails from Twin Lakes to Copper Harbor are open and trails are in good to very good condition with a base ranging from 12-24 inches. The mat on the Portage Lift Bridge is down. There are some water holes near Canal Road in Houghton.

Trail 122 is closed for logging. You can still access the Dreamland trail from Lake Linden but DO NOT go beyond. You can take Trail 124 to get to Gay.

Remember when you’re out on the trails to watch out for the groomers. They have the right away. Use caution around logging areas.

The Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau asks that you stay on the trails, STAY OFF THE ICE, respect private property, do not drink and drive, and above all else, drive safely. The signs on the trails are there for riders’ safety so please DO NOTE remove or destroy them.
