Grayling Trail Report – Fay’s Motel – 12/29

Greetings Sledders,

Quick update, been grooming all day and I’m tuckered out. Can’t do this stuff the way I used to could.

Every thing will be groomed out by nine o’clock tonight in anticipation of Lake Effect that’s forecast for us tonight and in to tomorrow. We aren’t getting too excited about snow totals because it is Lake Effect and that could mean anything from 2 to 10″. We will take what we can get.

Trail 7 south of M-72 may still be a problem child depending on where the cut off line is with this snow. We are grooming it tonight regardless of the way it looks as I want it ready for new snow if it goes that far south. I will update as that trail’s illnesses get better. For the moment it remains a snowmobile parts salesman’s dream trail.

I groomed trail 79 today and it showed some improvement although there were a lot of dirty corners and stretches of beige discoloration that I’m never too happy with. That should all improve with this snow. The loggers that I wrote about a couple of reports ago seem to have abandoned the area that affected the trail and new snow will improve that situation as well.

All in all I think the trails as a whole will improve to a fair status with the possible exception of the salesman’s segment.

As I see it right now grooming will be on our normal schedule this weekend.

Hopefully we will squeak through this weekend with this much welcomed snow.

Ride Often and Please Be Safe,
Keith, Sandy and The Girls

Cadillac Area Trail Report – Visit Cadillac – 12/29

December 29, 2016

Just got word our groomers will begin grooming effective tomorrow. We’re getting snow now and more is forecasted this weekend. Our crews have been working hard to remove debris from the trail left by recent high winds. Be extra-careful as it is difficult to remove all the branches and logs in a timely manner when we have so many miles to cover.
