Traverse City Trail Report – Blue Sky Snowmobile Rentals – 01/19

We could use some snow! Boardman Valley trails have seen mild temps the past few days.

We had some renters out yesterday and both said the trails overall are still ok but mushy and some dirty spots.

The main powerline on trail 5 is thin as it is in and out of all of the main stops along the trail.

Weekend temps look like they will stay mild. If we avoid the rain the trails should hold up ok with what I would expect to be light weekend traffic. If you do ride over the weekend please respect the trails and tread lightly. The groomers likely won’t be out much until we get below freezing again.

Seasonal roads and side roads are very icy so use extreme caution if traveling these routes.

I’ll update soon but for now I must do a big snow dance…

Overall rating – Fair

Ironwood Trail Report – Gogebic Range Trail Authority – 01/19

This picture is trail 2 in Ironwood; the rail beds are holding up nicely and listed in good condition(discoloration seen from highway sand).

Grooming is currently not an option until temperatures drop below freezing.

The trail from Ramsay Crossing to Wakefield is in poor condition, very low snow in spots, half of it is in good condition. We’ve seen a lot of sleds up here during the week and the trails haven’t degraded much at all. With the temps keeping us from grooming trail conditions could be rough by the weekend, however.

Please tread lightly on the trails, please stay on the trails, we’ll get out grooming as soon as the weather allows.

Think snow, not rain!
