Well Santa did manage to get us about 4 to 6 inches of new snow here in Frederic over Christmas., news reports had Petsoskey getting 20 inches over the weekend. As usual North and west of Frederic there seems to be more snow. Pretty quiet in grayling this morning, 3 trailers at the Ramada and 2 at the days inn. I got here early this morning and have been plowing. Already got stuck down at the storage units and a guy was in to drop his trailer off. They were returning from the u.p. where they rode by newberry and paradise and said it was pretty good but still water on some of the trails. It was minus 4 here this morning so that is good. My truck sat in my drive from sunday afternoon till this morn and I didn’t even have to broom it off as we only had about 1 new inch there. It all seemed north of grayling. Still mostly a lake effect snow but it sure looks good. I checked out trail crossings this morning and no signs of any groomer activity. As I got here this morning 2 sleds pulled up and I talked to them. I know this guy and he is a true die hard. You will find this one hard to believe but he and his wife have already logged over 2000 miles this month. Yes you read that right, two thousand miles, actually he said closer to 2100. He does the same thing in the summer with his 3 wheeler spyder. I see them all the time early in the mornings. Its amazing how much he does. He told me this morning when he die it cant be said he had those toys to look at in the garage. Now for those of us that just want to get in the first hundred miles that time is getting closer. So pics below are from this morning except for the 9 sleds that were at the swamp when I left sunday afternoon. Thanks for checking in. Pete

FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> A touch of new snow overnight but not enough to get excited about. Another day of slow sled traffic on saturday. I did count about 25 sleds across the street yesterday at the peak and I see a few over there now for breakfast. Still light snow in the air. I am certainly not thrilled with the forcast this coming week and it did make it up to 36 yesterday. The sleds that are out there are making the best of what we do have. For the first time in a few years Junior and the Obama Tour stopped by so it was good to visit with them. They are hoping for more riding this season too. Thanks for checking in and we will be patiently waiting for the next snow. Pete #gaylord#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less

WEATHER UPDATE via Michigan Storm Chasers >> Here is our last call for ongoing system snow and lake effect snow from now through Sunday evening at 6 pm EST, December 20th & 21st, 2025. Uncertainty exists primarily in our trace-1" category which extends from Frankfort and Alpena south to I-96/I-69. The clipper moving through today may produce a quick squall of rain & snow with minimal accumulation some time beyond 1 pm EST, but models haven't determined if this band will solidify or not. If it does, the chance for a rain/snow mix exists in areas highlighted in the pink dashed box. This rain/snow mix would only be today. Any snow on Sunday will be lake effect off of Lake Superior, hence why our highest totals of 4-8" are located east of Munising over to Paradise. Not too impactful of a system in terms of Michigander standards, but do take it slow if you encounter any snow squalls and/or visibly slick roads. #miweather #keweenaw#westernup#marquette#munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea#gaylord#cadillac#benzie#traversecity#petoskeyHere is our last call for ongoing system snow and lake effect snow from now through Sunday evening at 6 pm EST, December 20th & 21st, 2025.

FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> Still a decent amount of wind out there this morning but not as stiff as yesterday. I only saw about a dozen sleds on friday and I see a few over at the swamp this morning probably having the breakfast buffet. Last nite I went there for a mushroom and swiss burger and they had a band. To bad the place was pretty empty. We had about 1 inch of fluff overnight and I dont expect to see to many people today. I had the loader come last nite to move snow at both my storage lot and my parking lot behind Sledheads. It was so bad yesterday after the thaw I needed that big equipment to make it more tolerable. Pics below are from yesterday at the Swamp. Thanks for checking in. Pete #gaylord#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less
