LAKE GOGEBIC AREA UPDATE via Gogebic Area Grooming – 02/13
Picture this morning 2-13-23… We have 2 operator’s going out tonight to knock down bumps. Nothing pretty by any means but trying to keep up until Thursday when thing’s should turn around. Do your snow Dance (We need it!)… and Winter isn’t over!!
<>
While the forecast for the next two days is not what anyone wants to see in February – it is certainly not a reason to freak out and start cancelling your reservations! We have a great base and there is still a lot of snow out on the trails so this warmup should not hurt us too bad. Snow and cold temps are in the forecast starting on Thursday. Just keep doing the Heikki Lunta (finnish snow dance!)
Groomers will not be going out today and tomorrow and Mother Nature will determine what happens on Wednesday. Today and tomorrow will be maintenance days for our Groomers and they should have all equipment up and running by Wednesday. If groomers are out on the trails – it will mostly be to knock down some bumps.
Groomers were last out on Saturday and hit 102, Trail 1N, 13N and 8 east.
Trail 13 South/Trail 100: reroute has been closed and trail has been reverted to original trail. Trail 13 now connects to trail 100 & Stagecoach Road. Please watch and follow signs in order to avoid logging areas.
Mother Nature will determine what happens this week – think snow and we’ll keep you posted!..
<>
(Behind the scenes) Trail 13 south of Lake Gogebic has been a treat this year. We were able to pull off a miracle to get trail 13 open for snowmobile season. The Reroute took many hours to find landowners and to get approval to make it a trail. We now had to close the reroute down and go back to our original trail. Yesterday, we broke open the trail and resigned 13 south of trail 100. We also connect trail 100 and 13 intersection to to Stagecoach road to make for less road riding.😁 Please follow the signs to avoid the logging area. Hope Mother Nature doesn’t hurt us too much. Also a thank you to Riesterer & Schnell Outdoor Equipment to let us try a John Deere Tractor on our trails. Was really impressed how well it handled on our system of trails.
WEATHER UPDATE via Michigan Storm Chasers >> Lake effect snow continues today, stops, then resumes in intensity overnight into Tuesday, January 26th and 27th, 2026. Discussion Our west winds kick up to the 30-40 mph range later tonight. Prior to that happening, a northwest wind will batter some lake effect areas with an additional 1-3" this afternoon, with pockets of 4"+ possible. As we move into Tuesday, a widespread blanket of 2-5", with pockets of 4-8" will overtake the Lake Michigan shoreline, eastern UP, and Keweenaw Peninsula. Temperature difference between water and air, plus adequate lift will fuel lake effect all the way through Wednesday morning. Additionally, we have a clipper moving through on Tuesday that will bring isolated pockets of 1-3" to the east side. Most locations should still be beneath an inch, however, too many variables are in play to not mention it. Travel will be impacted along and west of US-131, with minor travel impacts all the way over to the US-127 corridor (I-75 north of Grayling). The clipper will be swinging through with the initial push of gusty winds after midnight tonight through 10 am Tuesday morning. Again, this will be for totals starting at noon today, and lasting through 8 am EST Wednesday, with most of the snow falling throughout the entire day Tuesday. #miweather #keweenaw#westernup#marquette#munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsarea#gaylord#cadillac#benzie#traversecity#petoskeyLake effect snow continues today, stops, then resumes in intensity overnight into Tuesday, January 26th and 27th, 2026.

ONTONAGON AREA UPDATE via Hamilton's North Coast Adventures >> ❄️🇺🇸 4-6" of fresh snow overnight!🙌💪 😵💫It just isn't stopping! We can't say this enough, the current snowmobile trail conditions in our corner of the U.P. are the best they have been in 5+ years. 🤯Trail crews from North Country Snowmobile Club UP did a number on the system over the weekend. They widened and straightened trails, filled tons of holes/depressions to level riding areas out. Just spectacular work! We did a 7 hour volunteer groomer run across nearly 60 miles of their system last night to help out. Trails were found to be in amazing shape, seriously come and enjoy whats here!! Traffic is tremendously low!! ⛽️ We typically burn 60-100 gallons of diesel a night per groomer! Book your adventure now! Www.hamiltonsnorthcoast.com #ontonagon #westernup#snowphotos...
