FREDERIC / GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic – 02/08 It’s gonna get worse…..or is it? Wednesday morning 10:30 a.m. , sunny and 32 degrees. Yesterday I never left home till 3 in the afternoon, walking in the snow was like walking in a slushie drink….Weather predictions for the rest of the week have me confused as they are saying it could be most anything, rain, snow, sleet, slush or system snow. I even stopped at the National Weather Service just outside of Waters yesterday, many of you have seen the place as the trail runs right by it out by Mancelona road. The guy took me in and showed me around, the main room looks like Mission Control at NASA. He said they launch 2 weather balloons from there everyday. (no they do not get shot down). It was an interesting visit. I had to go out that way to show a house but turned down Dusty Trail to the house and it was an absolute ice skating rink. I tried to stop and was heading downhill with no control so I turned into the snow bank and hit it with my plow which stopped me before I got to the really big part of the hill. I would have never got out if I went down the big hill. I slid for a while and right into a guys drive and then made it out. I didnt even figure a wrecker would try coming down that road……So the wait is on again, melting ice and snow and will we get to ride again…..Stay tuned to see what happens but I have a feeling we arent gonna like it. We warm up and see rain Thursday into Friday, then we turn cooler and wintry into the weekend. Weather thru next tuesday is pretty much in upper 30s, things are icy and melting. It never fails that we have great snow and then in a few days it starts to leave us. Riding on sunday and monday was some of the best snow we have had in years. Lets see what things look like after a few days of this. Its wednesday morning about 10:30 in the morning and 35 degrees. All we can do is wait but here are some pics from riding sunday and monday. 2 pics are around my building and parking lot. Looking a little slick. Thanks for checking in. Not a mogul the whole trip and only met one sled before lunch. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Precip ends tonight, although fog remains with reduced visibility. Rain returns Thurs PM into Fri as temps moderate. However, icy secondary roads could develop, along with ice jams along rivers, and perhaps localized minor flooding. Next chance for snow is this weekend. #miweather #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskey FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> Not liking the weather forcast for the rest of the week and coming weekend. Ended up closed again yesterday as there was another blessing of 6 inches of snow and we took off on another great ride of untouched snow, leaving Frederic and up towards mount Frederic and lakes of the north to starvation lake and back to Frederic. Lunch at the hide away and back to Frederic. About 150 miles of prime riding between sunday and monday. Sundays ride took us to lovells for a great pizza. Now time to get to real work today. Pics below are of the Jordan Valley groomers with a giant project on the trail. The guys were there to get the track back on the groomer. It actually came off a few days ago but they had to gather up equipment to put it back together. Wow what a huge project. A big thank you to all those volunteer guys. Thanks for checking in. Slick and potentially hazardous road conditions are expected Tuesday morning through the midday hours.
