FREDERIC / GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic – 02/07 Get your ice skates out. It rained alot during the night. Pretty much all schools east to west from Cadillac to West Branch and up to the bridge are closed. While its icy now its supposed to get up to 40 yet later today. Not what we want to hear. I couldnt believe when I looked out my window this morning. So lets all pout together. On the other hand there were sleds out and about on monday including the Obama Tour who stopped in to see me yesterday, I went down and joined them at the Frederic Inn for an extended visit. I guess we will have to wait and see what the rest of this week brings us. I did have a note last nite from some guys that had rode up to the bridge from Gaylord on tuesday and said they had a good ride. Thanks for checking in. Snow is likely today, March 7th, 2026 on the backside of the low pressure system moving through, while parts of southern Michigan reach the mid-60s today. Most of the snow will fall along the spine of the western Upper Peninsula, where 2-5" of fresh snow is possible in the cornflower blue coloring. 1-3" of snow also possible in nearby Baraga and western Marquette county. A trace to 1" is possible for all areas in white, but most of these areas won't see more than a couple flurries mixed in with light freezing drizzle. Snow should be done by 10 pm EST across the Upper Peninsula.
The rest of the state will be dealing with temperatures in the 40s to 60s with showers and thunderstorms, clearing by late evening. This will set the stage for a mostly sunny Sunday ahead.
