FREDERIC / GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic – 01/31
It’s a sunny and cold 7 degrees on tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in downtown Frederic. I took a picture of tracks in the drive and it looks like 3 to 4 inches of fluff…..I like it but was hoping for more to come today. I am going to head out for a ride about 11 and meet up with a friend and go see what we can find in the snow. Still predictions of a bit more snow this week along with the nice cold but supposed to got into 20s towards the weekend.
My phone wont probably last long on the ride because of the cold but if I can I will post a viideo of wherever we end up. For those of you that have read this for a long time you will remember my side kick beagle that was always here with me. She has been gone a long time but the pic below was a rental beagle from yesterday and she didnt waste anytime digging into my beard as I had a little coney sauce in there and the beagle nose went right for it…….
Thanks for checking in and Please remember to ride safely as there was another death in the u.p. this past weekend. Pete
WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Lingering icing across parts of northern lower MI this morning transitions to snow area-wide today. Several inches of new snow likely through tonight, heaviest across parts of the eastern U.P. and northwest lower. Snow combined with strong winds will result in whiteouts at times, especially near the Lake Michigan shoreline. *Additionally, strong winds in areas that received heavy icing will exacerbate tree damage and infrastructural impacts* Cold temperatures filter in to northern Michigan behind the major winter storm. Consequently, for those without power, dangerously cold temperatures are expected this afternoon through Tuesday night. #miweather #gaylord#cadillac#benzie#traversecity#petoskey... See MoreSee Less

They report that tree damage has led to ~87% of the county's residents losing power as of this morning (3/16).
