Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – 01/29

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Snowmobile Club – 01/29

Shaping up nicely! Trail 122 is only open from Lake Linden to Sawmill Road (logging – please respect this closure). Trail 133 is still wet in many areas, with the cold snap we’re hoping to get out there this week but do not want to risk burying equipment. Think snow and ride right!

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports – 01/29

W🤩W! Just W🤩W!
What a trip Greg Schmidt took from Minoqua Wi to Copper Harbor, Michigan.
L👀K at these beautiful photos from a partial blue sky day on Brockway Mountain.
Greg shared the details of his trip with us, “…..here are some pictures from our awesome ride to the Keweenaw! We started our ride in Minocqua, WI and headed up Wednesday, January 26th. Stayed at Hackman’s Hollow in Twin Lakes which was very convenient being right across the street from a restaurant. The views and trail all the way up on trail 3 to Houghton were spectacular! As we got through Houghton we headed up on trail 17/3 on smooth trails in Calumet and then took 134 out to the High Rock trail. Decided to try to head out to High Rock but about a mile into it turned around due to the high moguls. I was surprised by the amount of snow. Prior to heading up the reports I heard was there is no snow going out to High Rock but it sure looked like they had plenty. Anyways back to the report…😁 We headed into Copper Harbor on 134 and that was smooth as silk! We headed into Copper Harbor and then started up Brockway Mountain and man the views were like driving into a Bob Ross painting! Got to the top and took in all the spectacular views! After taking some memory making pictures we headed back down and stopped at another lookout overlooking Copper Harbor and Lake Superior. After getting gas at the Copper Harbor Fuel Stop, we stopped to eat at The Mariner North for lunch which was OUTSTANDING! Heading back we headed down 134 to 3 and took 124 out to Gay. Trail 124 was so good we headed back out that way as well. Once we got back on 3 south to Houghton the trails started to get a little rough but what do you expect after a full day of riding? Topped gas off in Houghton before heading back to Twin Lakes. Made it back to Minocqua Friday afternoon. 530 memorable miles and we will BE BACK! 😁”
What an amazing trip, Greg! Thank you SO much for sharing the many details of your trip and the beautiful photos!!

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Western UP Trail Reports >> 07 January 2026
Sorry for the crappy video but you guys have been asking for one so here it is. We're at 117.5 inches total so far and 23 inches on the ground with around a 7 inch base. Things should shape up by the weekend so don't cancel I'm pretty sure you'll be OK.

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Today, the morning fog and freezing drizzle will give way to a quiet but warmer than normal day. Fog returns tonight, though the weather remains quiet until a system passes south of the UP Thursday afternoon, bringing a wintry mix of rain, freezing rain, and snow to the UP, though the heaviest rain will fall along the Lake Michigan shores. Once this round of precip wraps up Friday afternoon, attention then turns to the potential for weekend snowfall, though plenty of scenarios are still possible, so those with weekend plans sensitive to winter weather should monitor the forecast. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsareaToday, the morning fog and freezing drizzle will give way to a quiet but warmer than normal day.
