Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan --> Tonight, cloud cover increases ahead of tomorrow’s snowfall. In the mid-morning hours, a low pressure system passes through the northern portions of the Lower Peninsula, with system snow falling over the east half and lake effect snow falling over the west. As temperatures warm to near freezing, the snow will be dense and wet at times, and some parts of the south and east could see some rain mixed in. Winds also pick up tomorrow, which could lead to some isolated power outages. The combination of snow and high winds could also lead to hazardous travel conditions, so be careful if you’re on the roads tomorrow! #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsareaTonight, cloud cover increases ahead of tomorrow’s snowfall. PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Paradise Area Night Riders www.paradiseareanightriders.org --> February 8, 2023
30 degrees this morning with a bright blue sky. I know its kinda nice to see the sun for a change but its sure gonna hurt the trails. Its supposed to hit about 40 today and that ain`t gonna help! I do see we will have a system come thru tomorrow and drop a few inches of snow but the temps are gonna be on the warm side. Nuff on the weather, its just bumming me out. Here`s what I got for the trails from yesterdays grooming.....
I ran the South trail #8 and it turned out just beautiful. Our infamous swamp is gettin pretty brown but still solid. After today it might get iffy.
Groomer Mike C. ran the Pine Stump trail #8 and said its in great shape.
Groomer Glenn hit the Point trails #452 & #453 and said the same.
We have a new guy, Groomer Keith, he ran the Falls trail last night but apparently he hasn`t got the memo yet to let me know how it went to give ya a report but I know that trail is in great shape too.
We will just hold on to our britches and see what this weather will do to the trails. I`ll try and update ya`s most everyday. Now on to something we feel is almost as important......
I want to give out some much needed shout outs and thank you`s. A BIG shout out and thank you goes to our friendly neighbors the Chippewa Snow Chasers out of Strongs. They covered the southern most 4 miles of trail #8 for us while we were working on freezing in the swamp and we couldn`t make it down that way. A BIG thank you goes out to Brian Vicente from Ohio for the very generous donation to our club. A HUGE thank you goes out to the Motor City Sled Heads for their $1500 donation. Apparently they do a charity couples ride every year to different destinations around the UP and we were chosen as this years place to go. I sincerly hope ya`ll had a good time and a great ride!!! All of this money goes directly back into our club for upgrades to the barn and our wish list!!!! THANK YOU ALL, past and present for the donations. If anyone wants to come out to the barn and see what we`re up to, feel free. Somebody is there most of the time. Our new barn is 1/2 mile west of the blinking light down trail #8 just past the scrap yard, first drive on the left.
All I have for today. Straighten UP Mother Nature, we have a short enough season as it is!!!!
LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via Pine Stump --> Snowing this morning we will probably get a few inches of heavier snow!!
It looks like the end of the week we could get up to 6 inches again!!
Even if we get some warm days there's a ton of snow.
We aren't like lower Michigan where there isn't much snow on the ground.
Get out and ride in February it should be a great month!!

CURTIS AREA UPDATE via Curtis Area UP Trail Report --> Both groomers are out, one’s heading to Newberry 45 and the other to Germfask 43 and are looking good.
Took a ride through 457 south of Curtis today and is passable with a sled but is extremely rough. The next couple of days are going to be warm but once it cools back off we’ll see about trying to get it froze up to get the groomer through.

It was 30 degrees and snowing hard when I crawled outa bed at 0700. Its 31 now and still snowing at 0900. I would say we picked up about 4 inches from last night and this morning here at my place.
I just wanted to give ya`ll a quick update before I hit the door and go grooming. If you`re UP this way today, see you on the South trail! All trails will get run today. We will try to keep runnin as the weather permits. The flatter we can keep them with this warm up the better they will be when it cools back down at night.
The sled traffic has been heavy so.....RIDE RIGHT and RIDE SAFE. You are not the only one on the trail!!!!! Watch out for groomers too, we`ll be runnin all day.
LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Paradise Area Night Riders www.paradiseareanightriders.org --> February 6, 2023
19 degrees this morning and cloudy. We`ve picked up an inch of snow here an there over the last few days. Sorry I haven`t given ya`ll an update since the 1st, I didn`t realize its been that long! I`ve been very busy now that the weather has cooperated.
There really isn`t anything new to report. The weather has been fantastic and so has the trails!! We are runnin the machines full time and they are runnin great! Every trail is in great shape. Or little comic groomer, Mike H., even came up with a new term for how good the trails are but I told him I still can`t print that.
I`m sure you`ve all seen the weather forecast for the next few days, it doesn`t look too promising with temps approaching the 40`s but the bright side is it looks like they will drop off at night into the 20`s and "they" called off the rain part. The trails might take a beating if the sun comes out cause the snow pack is unusually low but we`ll just have to wait and see. I`ll be on here more often to keep ya`ll informed.
Thats all I have for today. Keep checking back and I`ll keep you up to date on the weather situation.
Remember.....RIDE RIGHT......RIDE SAFE.....You are not the only one on the trail. ALSO, watch out for groomers. We have been hit a couple times this year. We run during the day and night!!!!
LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....................and please not get too warm
Groomer Chris
