Munising Area Trail Report – 01/20

TRAIL REPORT, Friday, January 20, 2023 6:15 a.m.

GOOD AMOUNT OF FRESH SNOW!

We received about 7 inches of snow along the big lake to the North with more as you head South on our trail system. Hopefully it is enough to start binding up this sugary snow we had from all the traffic. A majority of our trail system was groomed again last night and continues today. We still have hazardous water holes on Trail 418 so ride and cross with extreme caution (Map in images showing locations). Keep a close eye on conditions as you ride and stay right. Stay tuned for updates!

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails – 01/18

With cooler Temps tonight, we are out grooming. Trail got a little beat up during the warm up and all the rain. Tomorrow, Thursday the 19th, we are expecting anywhere from 6" to 12" of fresh wet snow. This is a good thing for all of us. The next couple of weeks, the Temps look like they will stay below freezing. Let’s hope they do. We will be grooming every night we can, as long as the Temps stay cool, and we have a person to put in the operators seat. Might even get a new guy trained in soon. We will get a trail report from our operator in the morning. Ride right, have fun, and be safe out there.

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan --> Tonight, cloud cover increases ahead of tomorrow’s snowfall. In the mid-morning hours, a low pressure system passes through the northern portions of the Lower Peninsula, with system snow falling over the east half and lake effect snow falling over the west. As temperatures warm to near freezing, the snow will be dense and wet at times, and some parts of the south and east could see some rain mixed in. Winds also pick up tomorrow, which could lead to some isolated power outages. The combination of snow and high winds could also lead to hazardous travel conditions, so be careful if you’re on the roads tomorrow! #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #marquette #munising #seney #newberry #soo #straitsareaTonight, cloud cover increases ahead of tomorrow’s snowfall. WARM SPELL PASSING THROUGH!
Overall Trails are grooming out nice and in Very Good condition for some great riding. We have a warm spell passing through over the next few days so grooming operations may be interrupted. This just depends on groom-ability and whether or not the snow starts balling up on us. We do have a few trouble spots with one being the Trail 419 creek crossing between Munising and Wetmore. Water Hazards on Trail 418 are gone now but there is still a depression at the West hole location (marked with stop and stop ahead signs). Keep a close eye on trail conditions as you ride and stay right. Stay tuned for updates!

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails --> Another run last night found a little help from mother nature as we were graced with a little fresh snow! Conditions remain great with a warmup coming. Expecting the trail to hold well, but will get rough as the snow gets wet. We will be watching conditions and grooming accordingly. We should be able to continue grooming, but if conditions are not cool enough at night, we may have to park the groomer. Our operators know the trail well and will be making the call if needed. Rest assured, they will get it back to great as fast as they can. These guys always do great work! Ride right and ride safe!
