Paradise Area Trail Report – 01/15
January 15, 2023 30 degrees this morning and cloudy with a 20 mph wind outa the SSE. I mention the wind all the time cause we are stuck in this crappy jet stream pattern and we never get any snow with a south or south-east wind. We REALLY need it to change and come outa the NW! I`m sure you all have seen the weather forecast for the next few days so I won`t get into that…….it ain`t lookin to good till the end of next week. On the bright side……we do have around a foot of snow on the ground still and the last couple of days were cold so we didn`t lose any…..here`s what we`ve been up to since my last report….. Groomer Mike C. ran the Pine Stump trail #8 yesterday and said it turned out decent. You`ll hit some dirt and gravel here an there but all in all very ridable. Groomer Glenn ran the Point trails #452 & #453 also and said about the same. The water holes have froze in for the most part but you still have to be on the look-out for them. The northern section along the ridge is bare ground tho….pretty rough gettin thru there. Groomer Dave M. took a machine and drag on the south trail #8, skipped the swamp south of town, and groomed up south of the river mouth. He just did the power line and the short section heading towards Hulbert. He told me it turned out good with just a couple of wet spots. He DID NOT go into the federal forest section cause there is a huge water hole in there and no snow to work with, The gates remain closed in this section 🙁. Now, for the Falls trail #45. My main concern is…..the gates are still closed, but a lot of people have been going around them. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND to not do this!!!! I have talked to a few people who have and they said the water holes are passable but you really need to know what you are doing. It just plain is not safe yet. We plan on gettin in there with the groomers once this next 3 day warm-up is over and hopefully we get some snow to work with. I have talked to quite a few snowmobilers the last couple of days and most of them are saying they are having a blast. The main comment is "at least you have some snow to ride on". One more thing before I close. I have a request from the DNR to post this(yes, I do talk to them quite often). They are having a lot of problems with people not riding with the flow of traffic when on the side roads, and for that matter staying on the right side of the trail. It is the LAW to ride with the flow of traffic when on roads and to stay on the right side of the trail. This would benefit us all to follow this LAW. Don`t ya`ll want to come home safe and sound so you can do this again? PLEASE RIDE RIGHT AND RIDE SAFE………..and………. <> <> Visit Paradise Area Night Riders on Facebook >>>> <> <> Latest Trail Reports – Quick Links <>
