SAULT STE. MARIE UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association – 01/03 Coming down pretty good! Very tacky snow that should pack down nicely. A couple of inches in the last 2 hours. We’re not supposed to get much but it all helps. Temps will finally be back below freezing tomorrow and we’ll have groomers back out! <> <> Sault Ste. Expecting most locations to warm above freezing during the day and then fall below freezing overnight. WEATHER UPDATE via Michigan Storm Chasers >> We know you'll pass by this post for snowfall today, but here on February 12th, 2026, it's quite a reflective moment to see just how far we have come this winter. Just a couple weeks ago it was lake effect snow every single day. Today, a light band of 1-3" near Munising is all we will need to write home about. We even tossed in some humor for those not in a designated snowfall zone. A couple slick spots will pop up along M-28 near Munising, and perhaps around Petoskey if a longer lake effect band happens to form, but this is more unlikely than likely. SAULT STE. Good morning all!
Yesterday and overnight Lane was out on the 472 to 480 loop, Dennis did the 49 and 494 loop, and the Bryan did the city trails and down 49 to 8 mile. The kinross crew did 49 up to 8 mile.
Everything is in great shape with the 4-5” of fresh snow that we received over the past couple of days.

Everything should be back in shape this morning, with the exception of 49 from 3 mile to 8 mile.
Warren was out last night on trail 8 from Raco to the Soo and it’s looking awesome!
Here’s what he had to say…
“Great to see trails getting a lot of use . Spile Dam to the Soo 480/ 8 are back in shape, electric lines are flat and fast . Super Bowl kept traffic down and tbey should freeze real well 🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾”

What a weekend! Trails were super busy!
Brimley Bill was out yesterday on his run on part of 480, part of 8, and the 889 loop. The pics are from his run.
Big shout out to our Raco crew for stepping up again to help with trail 8 all the way to the Soo. With all of the commitments our Soo volunteers had with the race, we needed some help from the Soo to Brimley and they stepped in for us. Thank you Raco Dave and crew!!
The city trails are going to be rough today and will be done tonight.
472/480 out of Kinross are also rough and should be done today.
All other trails should be fair to good.
