LAKE GOGEBIC AREA UPDATE via Gogebic Area Grooming – 01/03 A bit under the weather taking a day or 2 off. It’s currently snowing and Rod is out now as we speak. We survived the warmup and there’s plenty of snow throughout our system and all neighboring clubs. We are in catch up mode after hell week but traffic has definitely calmed down. ( However I think another push is coming considering the west side and North are really the only areas with ride able snow.) Pic was from breaking trail after the 40" dumper. You soar 80 feet above the river on a dedicated section for motorized vehicles to use, how awesome is that?! It's one of the tightest groomer sections we have that provides very little margin for error. It's also a great view of Lake Superior, the Trapp hills to the south, and really lets you know how pro-snowmobile Ontonagon is. It's a tremendous destination full of amazing eateries like Up north cafe (best pancakes on planet earth), Syl's Restaurant, GiGi's Coffee and Sandwiches, Connie's Coffee and Subs, and of course the famous Roxey's Bar and Grill! Groomer Gary is out grooming the west run which is trail 2 and 13s. Groomer Jeff is grooming trail 3 Land o Lakes to Bonds Falls and trail 2 east. Please ride the West side before the highway cross over with caution as the recovery equipment left some snow piles and rough trail areas. Temp's remain cold with light snow seems like daily. Our operator that went up 102 last night had reported very poor visibility but once you get up in the hills, that's pretty much been a common theme this season.
