KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Snowmobile Club – 01/01 Update, the team headed out this evening and we’re doing more harm than good. “Mashed Potatoes” is what’s out there right now. I just got back from inspecting 3/13. Roughly 18 bare spots this evening compared to the two that were there when I went out around noon. Most of the bare spots are 3-4' in diameter however there is about a 16' long bare spot on the 90 degree turn/hill by 3. Significant portions of the trails are pretty slushy and the snow is real loose on the majority of the trails. Thankfully 13 is still in decent shape however the stretch of 3 from aspen lane to the 3/12 intersection is full of small 6" or so moguls.
I'm gonna hold off on grooming because the snow is so wet I don't think I'll be able to get it to flow out the drag and it's not gonna get cold enough to firm up the snow.
