FREDERIC / GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic – 12/30 Total Meltdown since yesterday, its just unbelieveable how much snow we had and how fast it went, currently 50 degrees out on friday morning about 11 a.m.. most pics below from this morning except the 2 guys on the side of the building from yesterday afternoon and the Frederic (Inn Burrito from last night…… On the bright side I did have a guy ride in yesterday that left Frederic a couple days ago and rode up to the bridge and spent the nite in Mackinaw and then shuttled across the bridge and up to the Soo for the second nite……he said getting back yesterday was a little rough but he pulled it off. Also Ohio Cliff and his crew were in last night, they are from down by Sandusky Ohio and were heading to the u.p. hoping to ride. Forcast thru next thursday still is all warm so I doubt if we will be much better by next weekend……The wait is on again…….Also please ride safely as the death count for this short season is already at 3 that I know of. Michigan is going to showcase all seasons for today, March 26th, 2026. If you're heading north of M-55, a wintry mix will greet you. Snow totals of an inch, perhaps more will be possible, and a snow map will be out in a bit to showcase totals on a statewide basis. Meanwhile, summer is here temporarily as showers and storms move in by late afternoon south of Grand Rapids and Flint. High temperatures will be in the 60s, and even low-70s, especially south of I-94. More warmth means more fuel for storms though, so on a day like today, you should be rooting against warmer high temperatures to avoid severe weather. Speaking of temperatures, just an insane gradient from north to south. High temperatures in the low-20s for the Keweenaw Peninsula, while areas just south of the Michigan state line jump to near 80°F. Precipitation will start early up north, while southern Michigan doesn't start seeing shower activity until afternoon. More details to come in a bit on our severe weather, but the peak timing along and south of I-94 for severe weather will be after 3 pm EDT. Main severe weather hazard today will be very large hail, so it's probably a good idea to protect your valuables today if you're in the southern two rows of counties, just out of an abundance of caution.
