SAULT STE. MARIE UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association – 12/27 We wanted it, we’re getting it! Grooming operations are slow going at the moment but we are trying. So many areas that we still need to get to such as 472 out of Kinross toward the Spile Dam, 480 through the Spile Dam, the Raco Powerlines, 889, and the Bay Mills connector. As always, 49 south of 12 mile and north of Gaines Hwy has a large Beaver Pond that we will not attempt to cross until things freeze up more. We are dealing with huge drifts and water holes. At this point, pretty much just the city trails and trail 8 out to Brimley and back have been touched more than once. Please be patient as we try to get things tightened up. 6“ new snow last night, with the strong possibility of more tonight. We’re well over 40” since Thursday. Totally insane amounts of snow! With warm and rain moving in, it will likely delay us but a little rain might actually help the trails harden up. We’ll keep at it and keep updating!
