ONTONAGON AREA UPDATE via NORTH COUNTRY SNOWMOBILE CLUB – 12/23 Trails are shaping UP nice, we are under a 24 hour blizzard warning ONTONAGON AREA UPDATE via NORTH COUNTRY SNOWMOBILE CLUB – 12/22 Groomers were out, trails are good. The wets spots are froze. We had 6" of fresh snow over night, with 15 to 30 inches in the forecast over the next 3 days. We are evaluating grooming potential daily, but if the temps are above 31 degrees, the snow just doesn't turn in the drag. SIDNAW - WESTERN U.P. Warmer than normal temperatures continue through the week. Highs in the upper 30s to low 50s today, coldest north underneath cloudy skies and warmer south under sunny skies. Lows near or just above freezing late in the week. There are logging operations happening about two miles west of Kenton, use caution.
Due to the warm weather we will not be grooming for several days.
Please ride on the RIGHT side of the trail and STOP at the stop signs!
Stay on the trail, if you don’t we could lose trail permissions on private property.
Groomers have the right of way on the trails, pull over and stop to let them safely pass!
We have Groomer Tracker installed in our groomers.
We groom every day that the weather conditions and equipment allow. Unforeseen circumstances may prevent us from going out, like a major blizzard and being snowed in at our homes or equipment breakdowns. #westernup

Had a Groomer run up 1n to White Pine to check out conditions. He's reported back everything was looking good! However, that will be the last Groom until we see conditions change in our favor.
We might lose some trail's to this warmup but the base is strong and we believe another week or 2 is possible on certain sections of our trail system.

We’ve got a warm-up rolling in for the next week, which means snowmobile conditions are going to take a little vacation. Trails may get soft, grooming windows shrink, and things might look a bit sad for a few days.
BUT — before anyone starts pushing their sled to the back of the garage and whispering goodbye — relax. We have SO much snow up here that this warm spell isn’t ending the season… it’s just a minor plot twist.
Cooler weather is already lining up right behind it, and when this warm-up moves along, chances are the U.P. will be one of the only places left where you can still ride. Translation: don’t put those sleds in storage yet. Some excellent late-season riding days are still very much on the menu.
Think of this as a brief intermission — not the end of the show.

Sound's like most clubs in the U.P. are experiencing the same thing.
Temp's got into the mid to upper 40's on Friday and that evening dropped into the lower teen's locking everything in tight!
(Frustrating when you aren't even able to cut down a berm back to the inside of the trail).
We have plenty of snow and the trail's are holding up but the forecast for this week looks like we'll see some more 40° days.
We aren't waving the white flag yet, but that will most likely mean limited grooming on certain days.

102 north the trail is pretty good right corners are a bit icy but overall good . Remember folks it's March and what I consider late season riding . Still time to enjoy some riding.
