ONTONAGON AREA UPDATE via NORTH COUNTRY SNOWMOBILE CLUB – 12/18

Trails are shaping up, and this week’s forecast is calling for frigid temps and feet of snow!!!

ONTONAGON AREA UPDATE via NORTH COUNTRY SNOWMOBILE CLUB – 12/17

We are back grooming!!! Trail 137 is groomed and decent, snow is thin by Ontonagon, but rideable.

Trail 13 from Rockland to trail 101 is groomed and in good shape. Watch for sticks and a couple of wet spots by Victoria.
Trail 101 is groomed and excellent.

Trail 12 from Potato Farm Rd to White Pine is groomed, but in poor condition with 6 wet spots… still rideable.

Trail 1 from White Pine to Silver City is groomed, but thin.

Trail 1 along Lake Superior is thin. Trail 1 Lake of the Clouds is good. Mac will be grooming it this afternoon.

Trail 11 South Boundary Rd. is good and Mac will be grooming it tonight.

Trail 12 from Potato Farm to Ontonagon has some wet spots that have to freeze before we groom them again.

Trail 12 to Greenland has wet spots, and will be groomed Monday after a few days of cold temps to freeze up.

It is still early season riding… ride with caution, and always ride right!!

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Blizzard conditions persist today for central and eastern Upper Michigan, while snowfall lessens in the west. ONTONAGON AREA UPDATE via North Country Snowmobile Club UP >> Groomer Jay is out on trail 12. This recent picture is on his return trip to the groomer barn after doing trail 12 from Greenland to White Pine and back.
Not a single set of sled tracks...trails are setting up nicely with this snow and colder temps.

WEATHER UPDATE via 9&10 News >> 3-15 Winter Storm Update (8PM)
Blizzard Warnings have moved South to include Leelanau, Emmet, Cheboygan, Southeastn Chippewa, Mackinac Island/Bois Blanc, Beaver Island. Ice Storm Warnings have moved South to include Wexford, Missaukee, Oscoda, Alcona and Alpena Counties. Winter Weather Advisories now include Clare, Osceola Counties.
The warm line is farther South keeping higher totals North. Winds continue to pick up along with the snow tonight.

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Potentially historic, record-breaking snowfall between 1 and 3 feet expected across all of Upper Michigan. Highest storm total snow expected in the central and east. Greatest potential for 4 feet is the high terrain of north-central.
