NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via Pine Stump – 3/12 Well got more snow last night!! NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via WOLF INN – 3/11 Beautiful snowy Friday afternoon in the UP! Great way to start the weekend!! ❄️❄️❄️ NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via TASA – 3/9 March 9, 2022 9:00am Despite the slight and we mean slight warm up that is only because the sun was shining which is often rare in the U.P. in the winter, the trails are in good shape. We have the tops scraped off and trails panned down nice. Hard and smooth, not to say you won’t find a bump here or there. The side rails on one side of the bridge on the charcoal grade (Trail 45) are missing. It is currently taped off on the one side and signs will be placed to slow down approaching and crossing the bridge! We will groom all the trails late today and tonight. As always we want to encourage safe and responsible riding!! Please ride with caution. The staging area in town at the tracks is muddy and the alley ways are the same. Stay on the Trail!! Ride Right and Be Safe!! Please be respectful of private property, howbeit it fields or peoples front yards. Trial 9/2 South: Groomed down to Trout Lake last night. Grooming this afternoon into the evening hours the other spur to Epoufette. Good to Fair! Thank you to all the team at the groomers barn who puts in countless hours to keep the system groomed and maintenance on the machines! Light snow will accompany the front but generally less than an inch is expected. Behind the front temperatures will fall into the single digits above and below zero. This combined with gusty winds will bring wind chills down into the teens and twenties below zero. A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect for Gogebic and Iron counties tonight through Saturday morning. Lake effect snow will develop behind the front in the northwest wind snowbelts with several inches expected. 10 degrees this morning and cloudy. Mother Nature FINALLY blessed us with a good dumping of snow! We have picked up a solid foot or more in the last 36 hrs. and its been COLD.
Following up from my last report......the tech did finally make it out and went through our computer problems on all 3 machines. 2 of them are up and runnin good now and we just got the parts we need for the third one and that will be good to go today. Now, on to whats been happinin with the trails......
Yesterday we took 2 machines with 4 guys but no drags and headed south on trail #8. We skipped the swamp just south of town and started at the river mouth. We ran across just some minor water holes at the south end of the power line and a touch more severe in the Federal Forest section. We kept the gates closed in the Federal Forest section to give that a chance to tighten up.
Tomorrow we are gonna send the same set up around the Point Trails #452 & #453. The other machine will hit the Pine Stump trail #8 doing a full groom. After we see how all that goes we will hit the Falls trail #45 hopefully by the end of the week. I`m sure ya`ll have seen we have a slight warm up coming this Tues. for a couple days so that will dictate what we do on the Falls trail and the Swamp south of town.

So ya, took off at 6 all cognetoie thinking I'd just focus and pay attention to the task at hand tonight but see we've been spotted, evidence from several places were out here, could be the lights, it is orange, dunno but it didn't work! 😂
Anyway, 4th season playing with one of these and I can tell you it's been a perfect storm 😁 of continuous snow, temps, and all of you working with us to leave the snow on the corners for us to squish, ( See how wide and Flat they're building up!!) I just turned south at Wolf Inn, if we get this 7" Carl Bonac says "anything close to the Soo" , that's us right? 😉 we could used it but is pretty awesome right now, no complaints here! Actually belive this keeps up, we will make the cover of Better Cabins & Trails this year 😎
