NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via Pine Stump – 3/12 Well got more snow last night!! NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via WOLF INN – 3/11 Beautiful snowy Friday afternoon in the UP! Great way to start the weekend!! ❄️❄️❄️ NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via TASA – 3/9 March 9, 2022 9:00am Despite the slight and we mean slight warm up that is only because the sun was shining which is often rare in the U.P. in the winter, the trails are in good shape. We have the tops scraped off and trails panned down nice. Hard and smooth, not to say you won’t find a bump here or there. The side rails on one side of the bridge on the charcoal grade (Trail 45) are missing. It is currently taped off on the one side and signs will be placed to slow down approaching and crossing the bridge! We will groom all the trails late today and tonight. As always we want to encourage safe and responsible riding!! Please ride with caution. The staging area in town at the tracks is muddy and the alley ways are the same. Stay on the Trail!! Ride Right and Be Safe!! Please be respectful of private property, howbeit it fields or peoples front yards. Trial 9/2 South: Groomed down to Trout Lake last night. Grooming this afternoon into the evening hours the other spur to Epoufette. Good to Fair! Thank you to all the team at the groomers barn who puts in countless hours to keep the system groomed and maintenance on the machines! A cold front then drops across the U.P. and brings another round of mixed precip tonight, changing to all snow towards Sunday morning. Generally expect minimal snow amounts across most of the U.P., but some spots in the Keweenaw and the east could pick up 1-3” through Sunday morning. Both east and north routes were run out and back so they are relatively wide. Once they get back groomers will be heading out to the west and south route to get them widened out. 31 degrees this morning and cloudy. Not much more to report on the weather U.P. here. Here`s what has been happining on the trails......
Groomer Dave ran trail #8 south of town, skipping the swamp of course, and called it good. He did crack the ice on the big holes on the south end of the power line. We will run it again Sunday but if we break through that ice we will be done with that trail. The one hole can get 3' deep. I got one VERY important thing to mention on this trail. We have the swamp section ribboned off with caution tape cause the gate is buried in snow. Some JERK(S) ripped down this ribbon and rode thru. We redid it now but this act was VERY dangerous. If somebody just followed your tracks and got stuck in there it could have been serious. PLEASE respect the roped off trails!!!!!!
Today we are gonna run the Pine Stump trails #8 & #9 and the Point trails #452 & #453. For the rest of the season we are gonna run trails as the weather allows. Some good news is we have our 3rd machine up and runnin again!!!!

29 degrees this morning and cloudy. Here`s what went on with the trails yesterday, and a couple of other things.......
Groomer Keith ran the Pine Stump trails #8 & #9. He had a good battle with all the drifting in "Siberia" but made it thru. It turned out good but he is gonna run it again today to clean up.
I ran the South trail #8 and it turned out good also.
Today we are hittin the Point trails #452 & #453 and the Pine Stump trails again.
Now, here`s the couple of other things. We are down one machine still. The mechanic thinks he`s got it figured out and is sending us a part. We will install it and hopefully that does it. If not he can get here tomorrow. In fact, I think he`s coming tomorrow anyhow to run a computer scan on the whole system now that I think about it.
I explained this yesterday in my report and I thought I was pretty clear but I`m still hearing questions so here ya go again.....THE SWAMP SOUTH OF TOWN AND NORTH OF THE RIVER MOUTH IS CLOSED!!!! It is ribboned off cause the gate is buried in snow. THE FALLS TRAIL #45 IS RIDEABLE BUT WE ARE DONE GROOMING IT!!!! If we went in there with a machine we would break it up and it would be unridable. Its gonna be rough but at least you can ride it. Simple as that, it is what it is and we can`t do nuttin about the low lands.
Soooo.......there ya have it.......we`ll keep going until the weather won`t let us or until the end of the month with the other sections of trail.

Had to do some work on both drifty areas, deep, nasty, outta hand, alot closer to flat and widened now. 😉
Got up and back alone, all turned out very pretty!' MOSTY Ribbon 🥰
I'll be in this hood a bit, heading back down across the McMillan leg then back to the barn.
