KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports – 3/10 WOW! March riding is definitely some of the best riding! Thanks for sharing these beautiful photos with us Sean! Sean said, “ I love riding in March. No traffic and awesome conditions! Went from Toivola on 3 to 122 to Gay, 133 to Lac la Belle, 132 back to 3 and down to Twin Lakes and back to Toivola. 175 miles today! I don’t think I hit a bump all day!” Riding 175 miles without a single bump! That’s a great day! A few light snow showers will be possible in the higher terrain of the western half through tonight, with minimal accumulations less than an inch. Most locations will struggle to get above freezing today, with the exception of areas near Lake Michigan. Night time temps are still staying below freezing and days looks like it 30s ❄️ The parking lots/plowed areas around here are melting down so where ever you can find snow feel free to park your sled! Here is a update from Tim & Robin who has been here for the last few days (come up throughout the winter) ❄️ North of Houghton yesterday the trails were groomed and in good shape. Thursday we rode north it was beautiful, South of Sidnaw they do get a little more rough. Iron River is where the line is drawn really bad. They are rideable but if they haven’t groomed they’re will be mogal. Some water holes and open dirt on most trails also. But you can hit a really good 10 to 20 miles without dirt or water. ❄️ Thank you for the update!! A clipper will spread a mix of rain, snow, and freezing rain across the area this morning, changing to all rain from west to east as temperatures climb above freezing in the afternoon, reaching as high as the mid 50s in the west. A cold front then drops across the U.P. and brings another round of mixed precip tonight, changing to all snow towards Sunday morning. Generally expect minimal snow amounts across most of the U.P., but some spots in the Keweenaw and the east could pick up 1-3” through Sunday morning.
