Munising Area Trail Report – 03/03
TRAIL REPORT March 3, 2022 Great Trails but Trouble Again! Trails in an overall good to very good condition. Operators were reporting very good results with our trails primarily in very good condition east of M94. The west side Trails are in very good to good condition. Trail 7 South of Buckhorn was not groomed last night due to our Pisten Bully going down again. A casting on the cooling fan clutch broke again. It will be down for at least 2 days. Hopefully parts arrive before the weekend, otherwise….. We will do what we can with the Programs Spare Bully and our club owned John Deere 7130. As far as the Big Deere still awaiting a return delivery date. Lets hope the great trail conditions don’t drop off too quickly. Ride to the Right and Stay Tuned for updates! Base is thin on the west end by Little Lake so we will see some deterioration on sunny days now that the sun is up longer. Looks like a little more snow due today and Saturday, so we should expect very good trails until a brief warmup on Sunday. Grooming, maintenance, and training are on the schedule. Snow is grooming out well, but temps are not letting it hold up. Colder temps this weekend will help, but warmer temps next week will make it challenging to keep the trail smooth late into the day. Roadside banks are getting tall which makes the trail narrow when paralleling the road. Keep that in mind when meeting the groomer in tight areas. Reinforcements from Pennsylvania have arrived also! We are hitting it hard for this weekend with a short preventative maintenance window planned for the machine on Saturday. Temps are warming up during the day, making the trail soft and letting moguls form, but temps will drop again for the weekend! That means better trails for Saturday. Looks warm for the start of next week with temps near 30 by Tuesday. Get out and ride while the riding is good!
