KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports…. Trails are in very good condition and riders are sending in positive reviews! Jared Delwiche shared these photos and said, “Spent the week enjoying the trails. Tuesday we went to the tip of the Keweenaw, groomed trail all the way up – smooth and fast. Wednesday we went to Greenland and took the trail 13 loop back to Twin Lakes. Today we went to Bergland and back. On our way back we found a sled that burnt/ still burning between Greenland and Twin Lakes. Trails were amazing! Big thanks to all the groomer operators for all of your time to make the trails so nice for us!” Absolutely beautiful photos Jared! Thank you for sharing! Keweenaw County has recorded 182.5 inches of snow ❄️ through February 3rd! Snowfall amounts in January totaled 77.5 inches, which was more than twice the amount that fell in January of 2021!

I just got back from inspecting 3/13. Roughly 18 bare spots this evening compared to the two that were there when I went out around noon. Most of the bare spots are 3-4' in diameter however there is about a 16' long bare spot on the 90 degree turn/hill by 3. Significant portions of the trails are pretty slushy and the snow is real loose on the majority of the trails. Thankfully 13 is still in decent shape however the stretch of 3 from aspen lane to the 3/12 intersection is full of small 6" or so moguls.
I'm gonna hold off on grooming because the snow is so wet I don't think I'll be able to get it to flow out the drag and it's not gonna get cold enough to firm up the snow.
