IRONWOOD / WESTERN U.P. UPDATE via Gogebic Range Trail Authority – ORV & Snowmobile Club – 1/25 Groomers were out all night again and trails rated very good to excellent! We have received at least a foot since end of last week, its perfect out there! It’s amazing how much less grooming trails need when you groom them at the right time. Our volunteers lose their sleep to groom trails late at night to create a better trail for everyone and it helps save program dollars by not requiring extra "PR" day time runs (when riders should be riding and groomers should be thawing). Strong winds and heavy snowfall rates will result in a long duration of blizzard conditions. Widespread impacts: dangerous to impossible travel, power outages, prolonged recovery time. Blizzard Warnings have moved South to include Leelanau, Emmet, Cheboygan, Southeastn Chippewa, Mackinac Island/Bois Blanc, Beaver Island. Ice Storm Warnings have moved South to include Wexford, Missaukee, Oscoda, Alcona and Alpena Counties. Winter Weather Advisories now include Clare, Osceola Counties.
The warm line is farther South keeping higher totals North. Winds continue to pick up along with the snow tonight.
