Pics from grooming town this morning 1 st pics Are before the first 4 or so and the other ones are after pics trails are like glass all the runs got done last night north trail 45 the falls north trail 9 pine stump wolf inn and south towrds rexton were all groomed last night hope everyone is safe out there and remember keep right and stay on marked trails good day to all <> January 22, 2022 11:30am EMERGENCY ALERT: There have been truck and trailers parked in the Landing Zone at the corner of the Charcoal Grade and Laurel Lake Rd. This space is POSTED LANDING ZONE!! The space was created by the DNR for Emergency Helicopter Medivac situations in the event of an accident. Please do not park in the Landing Zone! Traffic Hazard: When leaving the staging area in town and going past the Logging Museum snowmobiles must ride with the flow of traffic. This means if you are going North ride the East side of the road and when returning South ride the West side of the road. Ride with the flow of traffic. Please and Thank You! We picked about 4 inches of fresh snow last night. We will be grooming all the trails again today. Updates are listed below. As always we want to encourage safe and responsible riding!! Please ride with caution. Stay on the Trail!! Ride Right and Be Safe!! Please be respectful of private property, howbeit it fields or peoples front yards. Curfew in the Village of Newberry is 11:00pm to 7:00am. Trail 9: Groomed last night to Holland Lake and will do the same again tonight. Good to very good! Trail 45: Groomed last night and will groom again night. Good to very good. CAUTION AREA!!!! There is logging off of Trail 45 before Camp Snort. Trial 9/2 South: Groomed to Epoufette on Thursday night, to Trout Lake last night and will go back to Cut River again tonight. Your grooming team from the TASA Barn!! It’s not often that we get to show 90% probabilities of getting 1.5 feet of snow, but that will be the case for much of our region. And the potential for significant icing has started to inch more into the far eastern UP, so we’ll need to keep an eye on that as well. I’ll provide some final updates tomorrow morning before the first impacts start to roll in. Its Sunday afternoon, 5pm, and a down right blizzard out der. I don`t remember seeing a storm this bad in a long time. Thought I would jump on here real quick cause social media is going crazy thinking we are done grooming. This is far from the truth! We are done on the Falls trail #45 and the swamp on trail #8 just south of town cause that last warm up really put a hurtin on them. The warmer swamp water really started to flow cause of the melt and caused a lot of open spots. We WILL NOT risk swamping a machine! We are gonna wait out this blizzard and get back at it on all the other trails. This may not be until Tuesday or even Wednesday as this is supposed to last until Monday night or early Tuesday morning. We have to dig ourselves out too!!!! Sooooo....please be patient. I will jump on here tomorrow morning and give ya`ll an update.

Blizzard Warnings have moved South to include Leelanau, Emmet, Cheboygan, Southeastn Chippewa, Mackinac Island/Bois Blanc, Beaver Island. Ice Storm Warnings have moved South to include Wexford, Missaukee, Oscoda, Alcona and Alpena Counties. Winter Weather Advisories now include Clare, Osceola Counties.
The warm line is farther South keeping higher totals North. Winds continue to pick up along with the snow tonight.

Phase 2 of the Winter Storm is kicking off! This will bring heavy snow and gusty winds still for the U.P. and Tip of the Mitt. The icing area we have talked about for the last few days landed where we thought it would. Leelanau down to Wexford and Northeast. These areas could see up to .5" of ice through today and tonight with isolated higher amounts. Winds will continue to gust upwards of 40-50mph. The snow totals map you see is on top of what you have already seen.
Don't be fooled, the lull from the initial burst to the second part is the system nearing. The second phase will be the worst with this storm. This afternoon - Monday morning.

A dangerous ice storm will begin tonight for portions of northern lower Michigan. The heaviest ice accretion takes aim in a localized area from Traverse City to Gaylord to Atlanta with over 0.50" of ice expected. Around this area, a zone of significant icing between 0.25' to 0.50" is expected - which is still enough to take down tree limbs and create power outages. The worst of the icing will be tonight into Monday morning, and then we deal with high winds moving in Monday morning as well which will only exaggerate the effects of this event.

•Travel will be near impossible for the UP and northern lower
Snow totals will be between one and four FEET when all is said and done on Tuesday in the UP. Further south, a mix is expected which will keep accumulations lower, and also will provide a sharp cutoff of accumulations. The difference between a foot of snow and 2” may be the width of one county.
Further south, this system will end as snow for lower Michigan on Monday & Tuesday, which is why we have a wide area within a trace to an inch, and western lower in a 1-3” zone with wording of higher totals possible. We may need to adjust totals here as new data comes clearer for Tuesday.
