Munising Area Trail Report – 01/19
TRAIL REPORT January 19, 2022 MORE SNOW and MACHINE STILL DOWN! Two to three inches of new snow fell over the last 24 hours with the trail system in an overall very good condition, good in towns and near roadways. Groomer Operator Chris was working overtime in the Big Deere and getting very good results with the new snow. With only one machine right now expect the trails to get choppy throughout the day. Quest hauled our Pisten Bully back to the groomer barn in Shingleton after doing some trouble shooting. We will be on the phone first thing this morning with the dealer to get it diagnosed and repaired asap. Lets hope for a speedy repair process. MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails >> Groomer operators were checking traffic levels and we had feedback from some drift busters and we will be looking into conditions tomorrow before we pull the trigger on grooming. Conditions are getting more favorable, but the snow isn’t settling fast enough with sleds avoiding the drifts and knocking the air out of them. At 16 thousand pounds, the groomer doesn’t float enough in soft deep snow and we dont have a second machine to self rescue. So bear with us as we constantly monitor and discuss amongst our operators on the earliest optimum time to safely hit the trail.
