ANTRIM COUNTY UPDATE via Antrim County Snowmobile Club – 1/13
Good afternoon, First and foremost have to thank our volunteers for all the work they have put in to get trails ready this year! Their dedication to maintaining safe and smooth trails is extraordinary.
Unfortunately the one thing that isn’t holding up it’s end of the bargain is Mother Nature. We had a great start to the year and then it was 50* and crazy wind and rain storms.
This week we sent each machine out and unfortunately the reports all came in the same, we need snow. Yesterday a couple of our guys went out for a ride and said the same thing. Trails currently are dirt to 5” of snow. The wooded areas are super thin as well as most areas open to the wind. Our southern trails have some chop in them from the uneven ground, 131 is very thin, north 10 is this as well.
With that said, we won’t be grooming until we receive more snow. Our crews are in place and the minute we can groom we will turn them loose!
If you ride please be cautious of the early season like conditions. Water, ruts, washboard / uneven ground. If you happen to see a trail obstruction please message us and we’ll get it taken care of. Please as you search for snow be mindful of private land owners and where you are.
FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> Its wednesday about 11 a.m. at 25 degrees with a light snow in the air. Just had a group of guys in that rode down from Gaylord and their trail report was not encouraging as they said it was rough. We really havent had any new snow in a week and I am not thrilled with the weather forcast thru next tuesday showing 30s and even a 40 in that time frame. Most all of the snow that we have is well worn now. My supplier is pretty much back ordered on many items that I need. I tried to get 20 different items and all but 4 of them are on back order. Carbides especially have been back ordered since early december. Here we are almost half way thru Feb and we should be in our prime time right now. I wish I had better to tell you. Pic below are riders that come in every year. Thanks for checking in and snow chants may need to be started up again. Pete #gaylord#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less

FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> A great 17 degree morning in Frederic. been a steady flow of sleds thru this morning but still kind of quiet. Typically super bowl weekend people start heading home which is great for the riders that stay around. 17 degrees is a perfect riding temp. Have had several large groups in this morning which is nice. Still reports of both good trails and rough trails. Not sure that I like the forcast for next week as it says its gonna warm up a little bit. Still many riders have stopped in that haventt been here in years. Good to see old timers. Thanks for checkingin. Pete #gaylord#snowphotos... See MoreSee Less
