St. Ignace / Straits Area Trail Report – 12/30
Good Morning!!!! Last night we sent out all three groomers to get a full run on our trails. We are still short on snow everywhere but we do have ice from the melt downs as a base in most places. Overall the system is in fair shape but it could change fast with traffic as we don’t have much snow as a base. There are some water issues that we are still working on so try to keep the speeds down and watch for hazards. On the railroad grade (trail 2) north of the 471 corner (castle rock) we have fixed the beaver plugged culvert but still need more snow and cold to fix the holes. On the Caffey trail (2) west of 473 We also have a deep water hole that hasn’t frozen down yet. South towards St. Ignace on the railroad grade gets very thin south of castle rock and we haven’t been able to groom all the way in to town yet so take it easy if you decide to leave from there. Conditions get better as you head north.
