Newberry Trail Report – 12/30
NEWBERRY UPDATE via TASA… December 30, 2021 10:30am We did groom last night. It would appear there is more snow coming Friday night and through next week off and on. The track of the system moving through this weekend has changed multiple hours throughout the day. We could potentially get dumped on or we could end up with a few inches. We are watching this one closely. There are good spots and there are bad spots, along with a lot of traffic. Certainly still early season riding conditions. As always we want to encourage safe and responsible riding!! Please ride with caution. Ride Right and Be Safe!! Trail 9: Groomed last night and will groom again tonight. Newberry to the Wolf Inn is Fair. The Wolf Inn North is Fair to Good. Trail 45: Trail is Fair and was not groomed last night. We will run Trail 45 tonight to County Road 500. We will not open the gate to the Falls until we can access the conditions of the swamp. However there is a CAUTION AREA!!!! There is logging off of Trail 45 before Camp Snort. The gate across the marsh to the FALLS is still closed. Trial 9/2 South: Groomed last night. Newberry to Rexton and down to Epoufette. Good. We passed close to 70 sleds last night. We should have the third groomer up and running here shortly and will groom all three trails late this afternoon and through the night. Your grooming team from the TASA Barn!! Light snow will accompany the front but generally less than an inch is expected. Behind the front temperatures will fall into the single digits above and below zero. This combined with gusty winds will bring wind chills down into the teens and twenties below zero. A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect for Gogebic and Iron counties tonight through Saturday morning. Lake effect snow will develop behind the front in the northwest wind snowbelts with several inches expected. SOUTH TRAIL (NEWBERRY)
Please please please stay on the trail. Respect the signs, gates, fencing and the trails. It has come to our attention that there have been several people trespassing and causing damage on the Sportmans Club private property and shooting range this includes all motorized vehicles snowmobiles and ATVs,UTV’s or any other motorized vehicle. The trail is now south of the shooting range not through the range and is posted no trespassing. Let’s everyone please respect private property and just stay on the trail.

10 degrees this morning and cloudy. Mother Nature FINALLY blessed us with a good dumping of snow! We have picked up a solid foot or more in the last 36 hrs. and its been COLD.
Following up from my last report......the tech did finally make it out and went through our computer problems on all 3 machines. 2 of them are up and runnin good now and we just got the parts we need for the third one and that will be good to go today. Now, on to whats been happinin with the trails......
Yesterday we took 2 machines with 4 guys but no drags and headed south on trail #8. We skipped the swamp just south of town and started at the river mouth. We ran across just some minor water holes at the south end of the power line and a touch more severe in the Federal Forest section. We kept the gates closed in the Federal Forest section to give that a chance to tighten up.
Tomorrow we are gonna send the same set up around the Point Trails #452 & #453. The other machine will hit the Pine Stump trail #8 doing a full groom. After we see how all that goes we will hit the Falls trail #45 hopefully by the end of the week. I`m sure ya`ll have seen we have a slight warm up coming this Tues. for a couple days so that will dictate what we do on the Falls trail and the Swamp south of town.

So ya, took off at 6 all cognetoie thinking I'd just focus and pay attention to the task at hand tonight but see we've been spotted, evidence from several places were out here, could be the lights, it is orange, dunno but it didn't work! 😂
Anyway, 4th season playing with one of these and I can tell you it's been a perfect storm 😁 of continuous snow, temps, and all of you working with us to leave the snow on the corners for us to squish, ( See how wide and Flat they're building up!!) I just turned south at Wolf Inn, if we get this 7" Carl Bonac says "anything close to the Soo" , that's us right? 😉 we could used it but is pretty awesome right now, no complaints here! Actually belive this keeps up, we will make the cover of Better Cabins & Trails this year 😎
