KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Western Up Trail Reports…. I was just informed by my trail boss that the trail up Brockway mtn. is pretty much bare. After the warm weather and high winds there’s very little snow with lots of ice. I would avoid that area and come into Copper Harbor from the north off of trail 134. <> KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports…. We hope you all enjoyed Christmas whether you were gathered around the tree with family and friends or riding through the trees behind the bars of your sled! Joka Philipovic spent the day riding Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula and shared these photos and comments, “we started from The Trailside Lodge and then took Trail 3 north all the way to Copper Harbor. We put around 150 miles on our sleds and it was awesome with almost no traffic. There were a couple wet areas but none that were bad. There was plenty of snow ❤?” Thanks for sharing your photos and comments! So glad you have been enjoying your trip! Groomer Operators are out currently. You can view their progress by downloading Groomer Tracker app and subscribing to the Keweenaw Snowmobile Club. There is a $10 fee and half of that goes to the club! You will obtain real time grooming information AND help support the club! We are under a winter weather advisory for Monday! ?The Portage Lake Lift Bridge will be opened for snowmobile crossing tomorrow afternoon. ⚠Trail 122 is closed after the turn off for Dreamland Restaurant & Bar (Sawmill Rd) when you are coming from Lake Linden. You can still access all of the businesses in Lake Linden and Jam Service Inc. and Valley Sno Drifters trail to Dreamland once that club opens it. *You can not use Trail 122 to connect to Trail 124*
⚠Trail 133 has been reopened after being closed for several seasons. The trail is in poor condition due to low snow cover and wet areas
? Trail 120/121 Freda Loop and Trail 3 from Dollar Bay to Lake Linden will be closed for the season due to the extensive damage from the 2018 flood. Well most trails close after today, Trail 3 is open all year and there’s plenty of snow left in these parts
It’s kinda sad dayfor trail riders especially since reports from Toivola north trails are reporting excellent conditions and a snowstorm in the forecast!
But gates will be locked up till next season
Personally right now starts my favorite rides of the year
Warm temps(sometimes tee shirt weather) but the beauty of the creeks and waterfalls are gorgeous!
I’m sure I’ll be sharing pictures for another month and will post here so y’all can ride vicariously through me!
It’s been a great winter
I’m pretty sure this will be my last season of riding with my battle with ALS
My body is giving up on me but not my spirit so stay tuned, ya never know
